“This book is written with the sole objective of helping the reader achieve a happy, satisfying, and worthwhile life.” Norman Vincent Peal
If you are looking for a theological solution to your misfortunes, this is an excellent book. The books contain proven and time-tested practices by the author. The fables in this book should lead anyone who reads it to a life of mental and emotional satisfaction through faith in God

“The fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt.”
Bertrand Russell
Bertrand Russell never disappoints in his writings. I always thank myself after reading his books. Though the writing style is a bit difficult still you get the gist of the writing. The outlook of Russell’s thoughts towards his life and in general is fascinating to read.

The book cover reads as “Never before has the future been so vividly and transparently imagined. From technologies that will change lives (information systems that greatly increase productivity, safety, and our quality of life,” Which I seriously doubt.
The book has written out of a sheer urge to place a book with your name in a library by two silicon valley managers. I expected more from two of the senior managers at Google but to no avail.
Themes: Future of technology, Robotic advancement, Artificial Intelligence, Digital wars and security

“This is the best reason to learn history: not in order to predict the future, but to free yourself of the past and imagine alternative destinies. Of course this is not total freedom – we cannot avoid being shaped by the past. But some freedom is better than none.”

“Every moment in business only happens only once. The next bill gates will not build an operating system. The next Larry Page or Sergey brian won’t make a search engine. And the next Mark Zuckerberg won’t create a social network. If you are copying these guys, you aren’t learning from them.”

“In a very real sense we have two minds, one that thinks and one that feels”
Descriptive but not pragmatic, the author’s main thesis is: emotional intelligence is important. Daniel Goleman writes over the length of the book to pretty much buttress the thesis with evidence from various sources including psychology, medicine, and educational programs.
The content is interesting at times but overall, the message got repetitive and I was looking for any useful information to put to use in my daily life from the book to no avail.
Unfortunately, the book is very much descriptive and normative, b ..read more

“We wanted flying cars, instead we got 140 characters”
Elon Musk (Elon Musk, Ashlee Vance)
Eventually, I am writing about this book. This book has been written in detail from Elon’s early years and how he got started in the business world with companies like Zip, PayPal to how Tesla Motors came to be, and the technicalities behind rockets being built.
Overall, an interesting book about a complex man and his accomplishments. It’s good to see how dedicated Musk is towards achieving his goals. I’d recommend the book to readers interested in Elon Musk; his far-reaching business ventures; and the ..read more

Book: The Power of Habit
Author: @charlesduhigg
Genre: Self-help
Another self-help book to make you get up you’re a** and do things that demand dedication and persistence. Mr. Duhigg has done some research on the habit mechanism or what he called ‘Habit Loop’. After assessing this book for its content it felt like an MBA’s case study, which actually was before the author turned it into a book. But that doesn’t mean I am disputing the content of the book, it will work only if you apply the method described by the author to change a habit.
One thing that intrigued me while reading this book was ..read more

Where do old birds go to die?
Arundhati Roy, The Ministry of Utmost Happiness
The name ‘Arundhati Roy’ has its own prestige due to its association with the 1996’s book ‘The God of Small Things’. I too have high regard for this work of fiction. As John Berger said, “Never again will a single story be told as though it’s the only one.â€
But ‘The Ministry of Utmost Happiness’ is not a piece of literature that you would savor if you view from the angle of ‘The God of Small Things.’ The novel revolves around the lives of Anjum the transgender and Tilo the architect.

World Order by Henry Kissinger
I heard a lot about this book, but after reading the book, I found it below my expectations and what its title suggests. The first chapters are focused on Europe’s political order, explaining the history thoroughly. The opposite goes for the last chapters on American Presidents, their doctrines and visions which failed dismally to make sense.
There is a lot of “take and leave” of subjects without really making a sense of it. Given the authority held by Henry Kissinger on the matter of international diplomacy, I expected a thorough view of the world politics and ..read more
