Get ready to look over Lot’s story to find many life lessons from the Bible! Genesis 13 Summary: What happened to Lot? We first find Lot’s name in Genesis 11 where it gives us the genealogy of Abraham and Lot. Abraham was Lot’s uncle and they traveled together out of Ur of the Chaldeans (or Babylonia) to go to the land of Canaan. [Side note: This is something I love about the Bible – how it is so intertwined! Listen closely: It is so interesting to me how the last book of the Bible – Revelation – chapter 18 to be more exact, has God telling us that Babylon, a religious kingdom who defies God’s ..read more

What is confidence in God?

There are two types of confidence: the first being worldly confidence while the second is confidence in God or confidence from God. And with what bar do we usually measure confidence? It depends on where our focus is, but if we are not careful, we usually use the standards society has set which are… the number of degrees or initials next to our names, if we have a high paying job, the car we drive, if we get to travel every year, if we have the perfect physique, perfect home in the perfect neighborhood, with a beautiful spouse and children, etc. (you get the point) When our self-confidence i ..read more

Missionary Woman: Elisabeth Elliot (Joyful Surrender)

I recently had the pleasure of reading one of Elisabeth Elliot’s books: Joyful Surrender with my book club. This may be of surprise but I had only learned of her just a month prior while listening to an episode of one of my favorite podcasts on famous female missionaries and famous christian woman. After reading Joyful Surrender, I doubt she would ever consider herself “famous,” but definitely a missionary woman with a surrendered heart to Christ’s will. In her book Joyful Surrender, she discusses 7 disciplines for the believer’s life, but there are a total of 14 chapters. The first 6 and last ..read more

If we were to consider our thoughts, where do they go most of the time? Are they thinking about godly things or worldly cares? Are we preoccupied with keeping up with what the world values and making sure we fit in, or do we have the mind of Christ? We are in trouble if our mind is consumed with worldly cares because God will not accept a lukewarm Christian (Revelation 3:16). But be hopeful, brothers and sisters! The Bible shows us how to have the mind of Christ. Let us examine the evidence. What is the mind of Christ according to the Bible? One particular section in the bible that talks about ..read more

Flawed & Faithful | To Know Him & Make Him Known

As Christians, one of our main goals should be to walk close with God and follow in His footsteps. But how exactly do we do that? While there is no one-size-fits-all answer, there are certainly some biblical figures who can serve as excellent examples for us to follow.  We will be looking at three such figures: Enoch, Daniel, and David. Each of these men walked closely with God in their own unique way, and we can learn valuable lessons from their examples. Lesson from the Life of Enoch Enoch is first mentioned in the book of Genesis. It says that “Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he ..read more

Reading the Bible in 1 Year – Why I failed

This past year I failed to read the Bible in 1 Year. I was reading the Bible in a year chronologically and got stuck mainly in the Old Testament. The books in the OT have a lot of information and lessons, and it is very hard to learn what is happening without careful analysis of the reading. Also, disseminating the historical and prophetical accounts were no simple task. How about tracking all the kings after Solomon? I had to use a chart to track the kings of Judah and Israel. My schedule for reading the Bible in 1 year Background information: to read the Bible chronologically, I was using th ..read more
