Change

Change is something that is almost inevitable. Death and Taxes . . . and change. Personally, I fight change every day. I like consistency, but no matter how hard I try, change occurs daily. Change Is Bad I wanted to start with “change is bad” because I think it’s the most controversial of the headlines below. I innately think change is bad, but maybe it’s not. When someone asks me, “So what’s new?”, I pride myself in saying, “Absolutely nothing!”  When I was younger, I felt like I had a lot of answers to that question. EVERYTHING was new. And exciting. But as I get older, not as much ..read more

Mistakes. It’s Not Too Late.

I’ve made many mistakes in my life. I’ve always lived each day as if I have more ahead. I’ve been faced with what seems like more death than my mind can handle lately. These range from a 4-1/2-year-old, parents of friends, grandparents of friends, to friends of my own. Each is sad in its own way and there are really no words to make me feel better. Tomorrow Isn’t Promised One thing that’s for sure, is that tomorrow isn’t promised. That’s one thing that everyone KNOWS, but I don’t think we stop to think about how real it is. The younger you are, the less you think about it, but the older I get ..read more

Am I Enough?

Hello all! It’s been about 4 months since I last posted. It’s not that I haven’t had anything to write about, it’s just that I haven’t been in the right headspace to be able to put some thoughts down on paper (or whatever this is). But it’s time! Here’s something that’s been on my mind for a while . . . Am I enough? Enough For My Work Family I take work pretty seriously. In fact, much of my identity and where I get my self-worth, comes from my work. The hardest part of losing my first business, was the feeling that I let my work family down. There were extenuating circumstances, sure . . . but ..read more

In The End

When I finish this post, it will be my 37th entry in this blog (Check out my Favorite https://kailynsdad.com/crowded-room/) To be honest, when I started this venture, I didn’t know where it was going to go. I didn’t know if I was going to talk about being a single father, being an entrepreneur, or just about being a human being. It’s interesting how this blog has evolved if you look back on where it started. But I’m glad I get to talk a little bit about this topic because it’s what I think about quite often. In The End, what does it matter? Tonight Tonight, I’m writing this blog from my backya ..read more

Chapters In Books On My Bookshelf

Where to Start? I suppose the first question you should ask is, “Why did you decide to post about this chapters in books on a bookshelf today”. And I suppose I should answer. Today would have been my 16th wedding anniversary. Not that this date represents anything special to me anymore, but it’s still a signifiant date in my life . . . and one that has become more of a benchmark for who I’ve become, than a memory of who I was. Do you know how hard it is to find a photo from your own wedding without your bride in it? Hahahaha Today is not a sad nor happy day for me. It’s just another day. But ..read more

Parenting: How Am I Going To Do That?

Hello again! It’s been almost 9 months since I posted my last blog, and as promised, I’ll only write when I have something to say! Needless to say, the past nine months have been “different”. I don’t think there’s anyone in the world that can say that this pandemic hasn’t changed their lives in someway. Some for the good, and some for the bad. But we’ve certainly spent more time with our kids! And that means more PARENTING. Tonight Tonight as I was tucking Kailyn into bed, I noticed that her eyes were red. I gave her a kiss on the forehead and asked her what was wrong. She immediately sat up ..read more

When Does The Pain Go Away?

This is a hard blog to write about. In order to talk about how the pain goes away (and when), I’ve got to go back to a time when I was going through a LOT of pain. But when you get through it, there’s a world of happiness on the other side. I promise. Pain pain/pān/noun. physical suffering or discomfort caused by illness or injury. Oxford Languages Pain is a feeling that nobody wants to experience, but we’ll all experience at some point in our lives. I like to think that it reminds us that we’re still alive. There are some days, weeks, or months that go by, where we don’t experience pain, and ..read more

Time Anxiety

I’m not sure how to “attack” the idea of Time Anxiety, and I’m sure this blog will take on many revisions before the one you’re reading. It’s an important topic to me, and one that I think we all deal with at some time in your life. What is Time Anxiety? Time anxiety is literally what it says . . . It’s an obsession over spending your TIME in the most meaningful way possible. In a lot of ways, I think we all have time anxiety on a daily level. There are things we want to accomplish daily. Often we don’t have enough time in the day to finish all our tasks. Literally not enough time. I suppose t ..read more

Memories

Memories are something that I hold near and dear to my heart. It’s probably the reason I have over 200,000 photos in my iCloud account and on all of my devices. What draws me to hold these memories so tightly? I thought I’d unpack my reasons for holding on to them . . . Both the good and bad. Photos Memories As I mentioned above, I’ve got hundreds of thousands of photos I’ve saved, categorized, and tagged . . . LITERALLY. It’s almost obsessive. And I know it. But I can’t help but take tons of photos of my family, friends, and Kailyn. What I love most about photos, is that it’s a snapshot in ti ..read more

How Can I Forgive?
KailynsDad.com
by Kailyn's Dad

This is a hard one . . . Forgiveness. I’m not sure I’m 100% qualified to blog about this, but I do have some thoughts that I’d like to share with you all, if you’ll continue reading. Who Deserves Forgiveness I guess all of us do. I sure know I could use from forgiveness from time to time. By that logic, I’d say that everyone deserves forgiveness. But how do I forgive those who make it painfully difficult to forgive? My little brother is a minister, and I’m sure he could give much wiser advice than I. I’m sure the Bible speaks about forgiveness, but I’m not talking about religious forgiveness ..read more
