Believe it or not, until the early 20th century, Surgeons hunted around for their own tools. In fact, they spent more time finding instruments than performing the surgery. It wasn’t until Frank Gilbreth came along and did a motion study that Nurses essentially became caddies for the doctor. Can you imagine???
