Hey friends. Yeah, I know it’s been a while. I’m going to cut straight to the chase – I just don’t have space in my life to maintain this blog any more. It sucks, I know. I spent the longest time feeling guilty that I didn’t really have time to update it and that I was falling out of love with pole dance as a whole. Pole has been part of my life for five years now. I’ve met so many amazing people through this journey and it’s had a huge impact of my life. But, I still have to accept that I’m not the same person that I was when I started Sass and Clacks, and that life will always move on. So, w ..read more

When The World Falls Down

Hey, friendos. So…it’s been a hot minute, huh? Well, I suppose it’s been nearly a year since we last spoke. And, surprisingly, only a few months since I got my shit together and told you all I’d be taking a break for a while. The thing is that I never wanted to be gone so long. Honestly. But with how wild the last year’s been, it just kinda…happened. Past me would have said she was sorry, she’d try harder to keep pushing forward next time. But current me? Nah. I can’t apologise for taking care of myself, and I won’t. The thing that stepping back for a while gave me was perspective. And it’s so ..read more

Lessons From Post-Lockdown Pole Classes
Sass and Clacks

Until the first week of August, I hadn’t made it to any pole classes since February. Lockdown in the UK took effect in mid-March, and even though I’d scoped out a room to put a pole in, and made a plan back in 2019, I’d procrastinated in typical me fashion. So I was definitely kicking myself when we went into lockdown. Not that I would have had the energy to train, anyway. Even though I went back on medication in February, my depression was worse than normal for a good (bad?) three or four months before my work started picking back up. But anyway, if you don’t follow my Instagram, I left my la ..read more

(TW: fatphobia, Slimming World, disordered eating) So…it’s been a while. I was hoping that with all of this time to focus on my blog, particularly given that I’m not super busy with my freelance work right now, that I’d have been able to write more for myself. Aside from the half-finished notes on my Google Drive, that didn’t happen. My mental health has gradually been getting worse through the pandemic, and it’s been a rough ride. I’m thankful that it’s not the February kind of Bad (my god, that was a bad month for me), and I’m so grateful for where I am, even if most days it’s a huge effort ..read more

[Gifted] Review: Clean Cut Kitchen
Sass and Clacks

[TW/CW: Clean eating, calorie counting, macro counting, mention of weight loss, mention of dieting] [Disclaimer: I was invited to this event with no expectation of coverage. I was provided with free food and drinks throughout the event. All opinions are my own] Promising healthy fast food, Clean Cut Kitchen in the Victoria Centre, Nottingham, stands as a testament to the boom in the clean eating trend. Despite the documented rise of diagnoses of Orthorexia and constant criticism of the fake health claims from Instagram stars, clean eating is here to stay. While the idea of clean ea ..read more

Review: The Clifford Day Spa
Sass and Clacks
by Emma

I love a good spa day, however these days, it’s rare I come across a spa package that I can reasonably afford. With most spa packages costing £50+ just for spa access, when I came across The Clifford Day Spa with packages for ~£40 that included spa access, a treatment, and lunch, it seemed too good to be true. Of course, I did my due diligence before I bought my vouchers, and checked out the reviews on TripAdvisor and Facebook. The reviews were good – with, as you’d expect, the odd reviewer having a negative experience – so I went ahead and booked myself a spa day. The Clifford Day ..read more
