Looking for Fun Creativity? Emily Lex’s Watercolor Classes & New Book to Love– Twirl!

Years ago, my sister-in-law sent me a link to Emily Lex’s watercolor art. Since then, I’ve loved having Emily’s minimalist watercolor prints around my home. I’ve been drawn to watercolor, but intimidated by the amazing, award-winning artists in my family, both in the generation above me and in my kids. Meanwhile, the art gene skipped my generation, so my stick figures are difficult to even recognize as stick figures. But I’ve been exploring the way God as our creator creates with us. So I’m working on trying some new creative ways to focus on the process of creating rather than getti ..read more

Breakthrough Bible Study – New Books to Love
Deb Gruelle
by Deb Gruelle

I love Barb Roose’s Bible Studies, and her latest is releasing today! Breakthrough looks at our freedom in Christ through the lens of Galatians. And Barb walks what she teaches. My favorite freedom principle from this study is, “Freedom in Christ is living free from fear and fully alive with joy and purpose.” Sometimes I’ve missed that idea through my years of trying to follow Jesus, so I’m grateful for Barb’s insights. If you or your women’s group are looking for a new study this spring, you’ll want to check this one out. Barb will be talking about her Breakaway Bible Study tonight at 5 pm ..read more

I would love to introduce you to a beautiful new picture book arriving this month, When Things are Hard, Remember (Beaming Books). This sweet story uses the metaphor of a child needing to move, and the uncertainty surrounding an unknown journey, to look at what it’s like to have faith that you’ll still be taken care of even when things are hard. It’s written by Joanna Rowland, my tender-hearted friend, and the author of the award-winning picture book, The Memory Box: A Book about Grief. The wonderful illustrations are by Argentinian artist, Marcela Calderón. If you know of a ..read more

MISSING AND GRATEFUL LIST FOR DAY 37 OF OUR COVID-19 MANDATED STAY AT HOME

TOP 5 THINGS I’M MISSING TODAY  I miss seeing people smile and hearing them laugh. Even when I get out to the grocery store every couple of weeks, everyone is wearing masks. No happy conversations, bright chattering, or laughter. Everyone seems solemn, focused on getting what they need, then getting back out to limit their exposure. I miss blaming other people or my busy-ness when I make a mistake or lose something. I miss hugging friends. I miss watching a movie and being able to enter into the story as potentially real. Instead, I find myself processing it: I remember when school hallw ..read more
