As a freelancer for over a year now, I’m enjoying so many things that are far better than what I have experienced in the usual corporate setup. I will never get tired of telling over and over again that I’m so grateful I was brave enough to choose this path.
However, everything has its own contrasts of highs and lows and pros and cons. And freelancing is not an exemption from it. It was only when I tried the money jar system that things changed for me. And not just with budgeting, but my financial well-being in general!

I spent the previous month assisting my friend in searching for a home. She’s an immigrant from the Philippines who moved to Canada and bought real estate in Toronto from her family member. I thought the process would be easy since she’s buying from a family member after all, but it was more complicated than it seems.
A few issues came up which I didn’t expect to see in this kind of transaction. But after finally closing the deal, I realized that buying a home from a family member can be an emotional and difficult decision. You may worry about the effect of the sale on your relationship with ..read more

In a previous article, I mentioned how I became interested in listening to the motivational talks of a dead old man named Jim Rohn. I watched some of his videos on YouTube. From there, I began to listen to podcasts in general.
I listen to podcasts for one reason – they motivate me. I’m well aware that motivation should come from within rather than relying on external forces. But there is just something so powerful about hearing someone else’s story and how they overcame challenges in their life, especially when I need a little extra push.
Listening to podcasts has made me enjoy things that I ..read more
