Way Modern Chinois is not your typical Chinese restaurant, specializing in contemporary Chinese cuisine. Moreover, Soft lighting and modern furnishings in the interior exudes elegance and class much like a fine dining establishment would. For those who would like some privacy, there is 2 private dining rooms which can fit a party of 8 to 12 people. During lunch, guests have the option of having dim sum or ordering dishes while for dinner, only dishes are available. Personally, I prefer the dishes as the dim sum pales in comparison to other establishment (i.e. Ming Room). Way Modern Chin ..read more

This is my 2nd visit to Stoked Restaurant & Bar in Medan Damansara, behind Jake’s Charbroil Steaks. For my 1st visit, about 3 years ago in December 2016, is that the food was pretty decent. Hence, I stepped into the restaurant with the expectations of feasting on good food. Stoked Restaurant belongs to the Vintry Group, which is originally a wine seller but has evolved into a chain of restaurants. Aside from Stoked and the Vintry brand, the group also owns Flint (which is no longer in operation at the time of writing). The Restaurant Interior of Stoked RestaurantThe restaurant occ ..read more

Bref by Darren Chin has been on my list of restaurants to try for a while, but due to its price point, I needed a reason (i.e. a special occasion) to pay this place a visit. And recently, that reason appeared, my fiancee’s birthday. As per the title, Bref is by Darren Chin, the man behind Restaurant DC and the son of David Chin, founder of the Dave’s Deli franchise in Malaysia. Unlike DC, Bref serves fine dining-esque food in a casual environment. The name Bref, is french for “brief” or “short”, and is Darren Chin’s model of a contemporary Parisian bistro where people can relax and have ..read more

If you are looking for a sumptuous and hearty breakfast along with great coffee, Ra.Ft Cafe is the place you should visit. Ra.Ft Cafe has three branches around Klang Valley, one of which is within proximity of where I currently live. Hence, it is a no-brainer for me to have my breakfast at Ra.Ft on a recent Saturday morning. Ra.Ft Cafe is very popular among the local residents of Mont Kiara. Therefore, if you are planning a visit, it is advisable to be there early (i.e. 9 a.m). You can find the cafe on the ground floor of Arcoris Plaza, if it is your first time there, it can get a little t ..read more

My fiancee and I were looking for a place to have lunch around Old Klang Road on a Sunday afternoon as we were shopping for furniture for our soon to be home in the area. While searching on the internet we came across a couple of reviews (scroll to the end for other reviews) for this place and decided to give it a try. Pu Yuan Restaurant (炒薯粉小食馆) specializes in serving Hokkien dishes. The restaurant is hidden away in what looks like a sketchy alley by the road leading to SJK (C) Choong Wen. From the exterior, it is difficult to identify the place as a restaurant and the door is always clo ..read more

If you are familiar with the famous Shin Nihon, this establishment is their sister restaurant. Although I have yet to pay Shin Nihon a visit, you can read a review of them by Bangsar Babe, one my favorite food bloggers here. Kin Gyu (literally translated as Golden Cow) is located right opposite it’s sister establishment on the 1st floor not far from Naughty Nuri’s. From the exterior, spot the sign with the GOLDEN bull head. Kin Gyu can be identified by its golden bull head signUpon entering, we received a warm welcome by their friendly staff (all of them using their abdomen to project th ..read more

Are you craving for some good Mexican street food? Head on over to Orale located in Damansara Uptown, along the same row as Auntie Sim and Annie1. There are not many restaurants I know of in Klang Valley which specializes in Mexican food. To name a couple, Las Carretas and Stuff’d. If I were to extend the category to South American food, Fuego and Carnaval Churrascaria can be added to the list. A good addition to the collection of Mexican /South American eateries is Orale. Orale is located in Damansara Uptown Orale’s interior is filled with colour The counter is decorated with Mex ..read more

This is my inaugural food review! And the restaurant to have the honour of this post is… you guessed it, Zoe. Zoe is a restaurant located on Jalan Kemuja, Bangsar not far from the Bangsar LRT station. It is located on the 1st floor above Pasar Mini Bangsar. This place serves different cuisines depending on the time of day. If you would like to try their Thai food, go during lunch. If you would like some European food, go during dinner. While looking for a place to eat for dinner on Saturday, my fiancee and I came across Zoe, which was featured on Eat Drink KL. As I couldn’t resist a g ..read more

A place to log my encounters with a variety food in Malaysia and around the world

Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog, this is where I will be posting and updating my encounters with food. As a Malaysian that has grown up in Klang Valley, I hold food very close to my heart. The easiest way to my heart is with good food, however if the food is not good, it would have the reverse effect. Although I did not pursue a career in the food industry (I would have loved to be either a Chef or Michelin Guide Inspector), I am still very passionate about good food. I jump at the chance of trying new eateries that pop out every now and then just to sample their food. I also scour for ..read more
