50 Berkeley Square is supposedly the most haunted house in London. It’s an accolade that is toted by quite a few different houses but this place has held the reputation since the 1800’s. Plus, for some strange reason it seems to have a ‘Nameless Horror’ inhabiting its rooms rather than just a run of the mill spectre… The Attic The hauntings are said to emanate from the attic of the old building, the ghost, or whatever it is, takes the form of either brown mist or a white figure and scares its victims to death. The spirit is that of a young lady who reportedly threw herself from the attic ..read more

The Northwest Territories of Canada are beautiful. They are remote, untouched and for the most part, inaccessible. They are home to the Nahanni National Park which is in turn home to the Nahanni Valley which is only accessible by boat, plane or foot. It boasts deep canyons, hot springs, whitewater and a huge waterfall. Northwest Territories The first human occupation of this land is said to have been around 10,000 years ago by the Naha tribe. These people, among any other tribes that inhabited the area, are said to have disappeared rather rapidly. The Nahanni Valley has some other, mo ..read more

Part two is focussed towards the paranormal side. Get ready for demon pigs and rooms covered in flies. Real or hoax? It’s pretty compelling either way. Thirteen months after the DeFeo murders occurred, George and Kathy Lutz moved into the mansion on Ocean Avenue with their three children; Daniel, Missy and Christopher. The house was a steal because of the horrendous murders that had occurred just over a year earlier and they thought their luck was in. Why? Why would anyone want to live in that house? George Lutz To answer that particular question, let’s look into the patriarch of t ..read more

This is a story with two parts so I will be doing two posts, exploring the background and beginnings in the first and the subsequent hauntings and legacy in the follow up High Hopes – The House Amityville is a small town in Suffolk County, New York. It’s name is born from an amicable agreement among it’s founders and, by all accounts, is a friendly place. 112 Ocean Avenue is a three storey mansion, it sits on a quiet street with access to South Oyster Bay at the rear, it has it’s own boat house and is, or was, completely ordinary (in a huge dream home kind of a way). From 1965 the hou ..read more

The Titanic sank 107 years ago and there are still programmes on television documenting conspiracies, theories and survivors stories. I was going to put together a ‘Titanic Conspiracy’ post but in researching I realised that a) this isn’t new news and b) all the points that spark a “ah, that makes a lot of sense” reaction have a very good counterpoint or the completely ignore all evidence or rely on unreliable witnesses. SO! Here are my favourite mad Titanic myths, ghosts and curses instead! What we know for sure about the Titanic The Titanic was on of 3 ships in the ‘Olympic’ class o ..read more

When the most accepted reason for a tragedy turns out to be a 7 foot, red eyed harbinger of doom, you have the beginnings of a great mystery. Or maybe a great mascot for tourism? Let’s take a look. Borley Rectory – A classic English Ghost Story

I have always been fascinated by this story, it’s got nuns, headless horsemen, the proto-Zak Bagans, affairs and accidental arsonists. What more could you possibly want? Borley Rectory was situated in Borley, Essex and is said to have been the ‘Most Haunted House in England’. Yes, it’s quite a bold statement to make. The Rectory was built in 1863 on the site of a demolished monastery (I suppose this is the English equivalent to building a house on an Indian burial ground) and reports of ghosts and mysterious happening began almost immediately with reports of unexplained footsteps within the ..read more
