Hello Readers! October was a month where I re-watched a few Bollywood movies in excitement of visiting India, mainly watched a lot that included documentaries, movies and k-dramas all leaning towards the thriller and creepy genre, ending it with a bitter sweet finale of my favorite rom-com. Also of course, The post The one where I read books with authors that have the same last name. | Oct’21 | Nica’s Fandom Chronicles appeared first on Nica Fictional Fandoms ..read more

The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkin Reid

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo has such a strong hold on the LGBT narrative during the 80’s. Some of the anecdotal conversations were absolutely gold. I was left inspired by this fictitious and flawed character who needed the bare minimum of just being loved. Although, I had a perception this was going to be YA, it is actually Adult Fiction and deals with a lot of sensitive topics like Relationships, Adultery and Sexual Identity in a very nuance way. One of the reasons this will be an all time favorite read, is the rich writing and the impact done by the ever so beautiful and strong Evelyn ..read more

Hana Khan Carries On is a Muslim Rom Com! A perfect summer read. This book is absolutely precious. One By One by Ruth Ware

One by One written by Ruth ware is a perfect pick for this lockdown! I have been absolutely disheartened with having to cancel my travel plans. Ruth ware managed to transport me to the French Alps through this page turning thriller. This book did not live up to her previous publication I’ve read – The Turn Of The Key. Although, a highly recommended one if you are craving a winter holiday and a whodunnit murder mystery. ABOUT THE BOOK Getting snowed in at a beautiful, rustic mountain chalet doesn’t sound like the worst problem in the world, especially when there’s a breathtaking vista, a cozy ..read more

Later by Stephen King | A Paranormal Coming Of Age Story

The only book I have read by Stephen King is Carrie. I read it at a time when I was new to the “horror” genre and was recommended to pick up books by who they call the “King of Horrors” in the literary world. I remember it being so engaging and how the scenes kept playing in my head long after I finished the book. As I was recently caught in the spell of horror books again, I decided to pick up the recent book by Stephen King – Later. Maybe not his best work, but still engrossing enough with some quote worthy monologues. ABOUT THE BOOK The son of a struggling single mother, Jamie Conklin jus ..read more

Flowers Of Evil | 2020

Yet another Crime Thriller KDrama, I absolutely enjoyed. Flowers of Evil has it all. Action, Romance and a nail-biting thrilling plotline. SYNOPSIS “Flower of Evil” is a suspense melodrama about a man who hides his cruel past and changes his identity, while his detective wife tracks down his past. THOUGHTS The Love Story Even though, this has a crime/melodramatic plotline, I loved the cute love scenes. Also, the scenes with his family and daughter in general are so well done. The emotional side of this plot does get too intense along with the building suspense which I guess made the show ..read more

Love is a Revolution is a Young Adult Contemporary book written by Renée Watson. It’s my first book by the author, and I ‘d want to put this on record – I’d like to read more books celebrating black lives from now on. When Nala Robertson reluctantly agrees to attend an open mic night for her cousin-sister-friend Imani’s birthday, she finds herself falling in instant love with Tye Brown, the MC. He’s perfect, except . . . Tye is an activist and is spending ..read more
