In May, we launched our Acne Toner & Repair Lotion and encouraged people to join our product testing program and try before you buy. I'm thrilled to announce; the program has been a huge success! Thanks to our product testers, we made significant progress over the past few weeks. We received valuable feedback from committed users, now turned loyal customers, that helped us improve things like the texture, penetration, after-feel, and even the smell! In fact, we enhanced the product's formula without making any modifications to the vital acne-fighting properties that make ..read more

What is Whey Protein? Whey is the protein powder that many people add to their diets to build and repair muscle. It’s found in many protein bars, health shakes, and even cheese. Whey is low in lactose content making it easier for the stomach to tolerate. And, it contains all 9 essential amino acids making Whey a complete protein. Cow’s milk contains caseins and whey, when milk is curdled and strained it separates out a liquid called Whey. Whey is then added to protein powders and commonly sold as a health supplement. The link between whey protein and acne Whey protein, amo ..read more

Back acne can change how we will feel about ourselves. It changes how we dress for the day, or any occasion for that matter. It can even be physically painful. Here are a few things to be aware of when trying to prevent back acne. Bras A nuisance for many women, and more so for women with acne prone skin. We often are in a hurry, we grab the first bra hanging on the hook (or door knob), and we’re dressed and out the door. This uncomfortable annoying little piece of clothing can be a culprit for back acne. You may have noticed acne around the strap area on either side of your b ..read more

Sweat - does not cause acne. What is sweat? Sweating is our body’s way of controlling temperature. Our sweat glands release liquid, this is called perspiration, this helps our body stay cool.  The autonomic nervous system is responsible for regulating the body’s temperature, and depending on how many sweat glands you are born with (2 to 4 million) there is no way of knowing how active they will be, which will determine how much you will sweat.  Good news, it doesn’t actually cause acne. However, to avoid dry skin, you will want to rehydrate your body with plenty of water, and ..read more

Why acne gets worse before it gets better

Firstly, I want to start off by saying people who are using our acne solution (Francis Ave Skincare) have experienced this at a much lesser and more manageable degree than those using other topical or oral solutions. Which is why, I want to address this and invite people to comment on their experiences with other products. Why do some products cause acne to get worse before it gets better?  Understanding your pores and skin When material builds up in your pores they can become clogged. When this happens a microcomedone, (the bacteria that resides in the pores and develops acn ..read more

Big changes to your diet You may have tried adjusting your diet by eliminating dairy, fats, sugars, and maybe even meat. People have gone as far as cutting out all carbs, including nutritious fruits and veggies that are considered high in carb. It’s never a bad thing to try and eat healthy for obvious reasons, and it may work (I’ve read a few success stories), but it’s important to talk to your doctor about inefficiencies you may have before cutting out certain nutrition. You can end up worse than before, dry skin, washed out complexion, and even hair loss.  Semen Facial Ho ..read more

You stay humble It’s just to hard to become over confident and arrogant when you are aware of your blemishes, scars and acne.   It forces us to put our energy into what we are good at and develop skills without the distraction of becoming narcissistic and vain.  Once we achieve our skin goals, we will always remember how far we’ve come and become more relatable to other peoples problems. You’re never alone Acne may hurt your self-esteem and make you feel alone, but your not. Even if you are lonely, you are not a ..read more

How acne affects your mental health

Over the last few months, I’ve been working closely with individuals and acne communities to learn about all the things they’ve tried and what worked and what didn’t.  What I discovered was far more alarming than just failed acne solutions. Every time a product failed, a person felt failure.   This is insanely detrimental to your mental health because it causes them to feel frustration, anger, and lose hope that their situation will never get better. They basically give up. The fear of never being able to solve their acne problems and the sadness they feel forcing themselves t ..read more

5 Things I Stopped Doing that helped Prevent Acne

1. Stop sleeping on my face at night     This is easier said than done. Almost 75% of people sleep on their side, that doesn’t mean that 75% of people have acne on their cheeks, but I can see why it would cause acne.    By sleeping on your side, your face is resting on your pillow or bed.  You are basically pressing your face on fabric that is the ultimate breeding grounds for bacteria, body oils, dirt, dust, and whatever else. Not just that, you’re not allowing your skin to breath and this can cause chaffing. If you have to sleep on your side, definitely make a habit of washing or c ..read more

How it all started

Why I started FrancisAve.com I always had clear and youthful skin, I never struggled with acne even throughout school. Many classmates had bad skin, all different kinds of acne and skin irritations.  Not able to relate, ignorantly, I concluded that this must something they accepted to be second nature as it was always there and it seemed there was nothing they could do about it.  I did feel bad all the same.  The “I get it now” moment When I was in my early 20s, I started to get acne, it wasn’t bad, a few here and there.  But like most, I focused on it, picked at it, making the blemish ev ..read more
