? Listen to Post We’ve finally arrived in 2023 with everything intact. Well, mostly. There might be a few scratches, dings, and dents. Nothing a bit of whiskey self-love won’t fix, though. Last year was a chaotic hot mess (seriously, who did the universe let into the kitchen?). Life kept shifting beneath our feet, and we remain unconvinced this year won’t be the same. After all, where there are humans, there are problems. Changes and unexpected twists. That’s just inevitable. Still, we remain hopeful that not all of 2023 will be madness and mayhem. Every year, we talk about the things we wi ..read more

Bookish Valhalla
by Ari Augustine

Good afternoon, Valkyries. It’s Tuesday. Again. And almost the middle of the month. Where on earth is November going?! Just a fair warning: I’m a smidge sick today. My husband gave me whatever freak throat-tickle he had the other day. I’m reporting to you guys (and work) from beneath a cascade of blankets and surrounded by an enemy of lozenge wrappers. So, please forgive the short and sweetness of this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post.  This week’s topic = book series I want to start in 2023. Yes, I tweaked it a bit from the original. Come fight me. Top Ten Tuesday was originally created ..read more

Why I’m Breaking Up With Book Arcs In 2023
Bookish Valhalla
by Ari Augustine

All year long, I debated writing this post because I wasn’t sure of my decision yet. I didn’t want to come across as someone ungrateful for the hundreds of ARC opportunities I’d been given. I didn’t want this decision to be clouded by memories or emotions, good and bad. I didn’t want it to be an impulsive act I’d later regret.  If I’m breaking up with ARCs, it should be a neutral and reflective moment. Not a colorful f*ck you to all the ways I feel let down by every level of publishing. Despite negative experiences, I still loved supporting authors  and publishers. I enjoyed bondin ..read more
