Anybody attempting to break into film, either as a hobby or a profession knows how difficult it can be. The industry is littered with strong, overwhelming, and often obnoxious personalities. Not to mention the ever changing technology and industry trends. It can be extremely daunting! A few months back, I was fortunate to get myself mixed up with an Indie Film Group called “The Fork Shop” headed by Stephen Blackmon. Stephen is an Indie professional in the Atlanta area who has created several short films and has networked with some big name artist. Working with The Fork Shop has been a great ..read more

Atlanta Skyline
EFFEXER PROJECT

Atlanta is a dynamic city, with dozens of new office and residential towers under construction today. Though these new buildings will alter the appearance of the city, its skyline will still look largely the same tomorrow, next year, and next century. What changes each day is the environment—the weather, the activity, the people and their interactions. Atlanta Skyline is an expression of how each minute of each day unfolds in chaos and motion against the unchanging background of the cityscape. Atlanta Skyline reveals the city in time lapse over the course of what appears to be one full day. In ..read more

EFFEXER PROJECT

Matt Cochran is an aviation enthusiast and a good friend of mine. He is often at the airport as a spectator, and other times pursuing his passion of recording incoming and outgoing flights. He can name the make and model of all the aircraft just from a brief glimpse. In 2015, Matt was recording a Delta 777 headed for Japan. As the plane completed taxi and began to accelerate, smoke appears from the bottom of the plane. After the plane took off, it immediately began having issues and showing signs of trouble. We later find out in the video that the smoke was actually the pilot dumping fuel i ..read more

“I Am The Villain”

I am angry. I am depressed. I am resentful. I push people away. I Am The Villain. This spoken word video drama examines what a person must do to survive in extreme conditions. The narrator is so distraught with his life that his only means of survival is to hurt his friends and family, push them away, and face each day on his own. I Am The Villain is more than just a sad portrayal of a man who has lost all hope in humanity—it is a validation of the fact that, sometimes, everyone can feel like a villain. *Republished* “I Am The Villain”  (YouTube ..read more

How do you make a horror film? Seriously, how does anyone have a chance these days when every theme has been played out and cinematic special effects dominate the screen? It’s extremely difficult when most of the drama surrounding horror is created in post-production. There are some good horror flicks out there, and authentic post production technique does make it scary but predictable. I say less is more. I say let the audience draw their own conclusions. I believe the scariest things  we see are the scenarios  we see in our  mind. In my first attempt at horror, I use long pauses of black. I ..read more

As a fan of Spoken Word poetry, I have long wanted to produce a video that fused its rhyme and rhythm with a cinematic style that added new dimensions to the source material. I approached friend Damion Ferrell of Meninty, whom I knew to be a talented writer of slam poetry, and then find an artist to perform his piece. When Damion told me that he wanted serve as both poet and artist, we were ready to go. We produced “I Am The Villain” in multiple stages over a period of several months. The first part came easily—Meninty wrote a poem in a weeks’ time. We struggled with how to translate the poem ..read more

Dictator-Final Cut

Dictator was a piece I created entirely with archival footage. Through the use of rhythmic editing and a dark soundtrack I was able to create a documentary that explores the nature of life in an Autocratic Society. *Side Note-It seems You Tube found my video too graphic and violent despite my explanation of what I was trying to achieve. Dictator-Final Cut (Vimeo ..read more

Interview-The Royal Rumble
EFFEXER PROJECT

For you WWF Fans, the Royal Rumble is the Holy Grail of wrestling matches that takes place once a year in the late winter. Its a competition where the wrestlers acting ability is just as important as their physical prowess. The show is highlighted by crashing elbows, items smashed over extremities, and loud bantering back and forth. This year we did a video commentary with a person that knew little to nothing about WWF to see what would happen if we asked him to chose the winners of this years Royal Rumble. What took place was a 24 minute comedy that was featured on SB Nations front page for a ..read more

Professional WWF wrestling happens to be a passion of Damion’s and he and I have recently collaborated in turning some of his projects into video presentations.
