Do you prefer a natural approach to healing?  Do you find that the Western Medicine approach sometimes leaves you with unpleasant side effects you’d rather avoid?  I have discovered with experience that my body doesn’t respond well to Western Medicine in some ways, and you may be one of those people as well. As a young adult, my mother used Comfrey as an herbal poultice to help heal skin inflammation and infection.  We used it for hang nails, infected scratches, and mild staph infections. It was a huge relief to me as I was at an impressionable age when my face with impetigo was ..read more

When life becomes hard enough that we suffer from depression, bipolar disorder, or any mental health diagnosis, it can be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We may feel like we’re stuck in a cycle of pain and despair, with no way out. However, sometimes it’s in those moments of suffering that we find the most motivation. Suffering can teach us important lessons about ourselves and the world around us. It can make us stronger, more resilient, and more empathetic towards others who are going through similar struggles ..read more

Spiritual Support Through Gifts

I’ve noticed that the spirit world is more supportive than I acknowledged for much of my life.  It’s a shame that it took the tragedy of the death of my eldest son to crystalize my awareness of miracles.  Did they happen before he died and I just didn’t see it? Or did they start happening because I believed? Many of my readers know that I experienced the death of my eldest son nearly 8 years ago.  After his death, he helped me develop a stronger faith in the spirit world through telepathy, gifts, numerology, and more. Soon after he died I began to find coins and paper money in m ..read more

After decades of working with people in my therapy practice, I have seen a variety of my clients discover that they have food sensitivities.  I’m sure you all know of someone who can’t eat gluten or dairy.  There are many foods a person can be sensitive to or allergic to but many people don’t realize that these sensitivities can impact their mood. It can also impact your mood if you don’t eat regularly.  So, we need to consider both how often we eat, and what we eat if we want to be healthy.  My focus will be on mental health but these things will affect one’s physical heal ..read more

Dancing Lights: Spirit offers Support

Near the beginning of June, a colleague of mine had a brain injury over the weekend which landed them in the hospital.  We’ve been volunteering together for a decade. We’re both pretty laid back and have enjoyed each other’s company while helping this organization prosper.  My cousin had a ruptured aneurysm a couple of decades ago(which I thought was the same brain injury this person had) and did not recover well.  She struggled to talk, couldn’t walk or play music anymore, and was paralyzed on one side of her body.  I was concerned about my colleague and what their recove ..read more

Non Violent Communication, A technique that helps lift depression, prevent mania, and reduce anxiety. Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a communication approach that emphasizes compassion and empathy when people communicate with each other.             Some people believe that before we are born, we meet with our soul group to plan the challenges we will face on Earth during our physical lifetime.  When you’re at the tail end of a life challenge and you’ve figured out what you were supposed to learn from it, it’s not such a hard pill to swallow. However, when you’re treading water in the middle of it, that pill can get stuck in your throat feeling like it’s choking you.             I must have decided with my soul gr ..read more

The DSM V, the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders, defines grief as a two-month period where someone could experience clinical depression but would not be diagnosed as such due to the death of their loved one.  Clinically speaking, the period in which you can experience extreme sadness without depression or prolonged grief disorder diagnosis is finite. So, that means that after someone we love has died, we could feel depressed all day for two months and not be diagnosed with either of those.  But af ..read more

It is a challenging undertaking to achieve stability with Bipolar Disorder.  In my experience, most people find medication alone will not achieve full stability. Natural remedies, however, are very effective with the right guidance, if you have the financial capacity to manage the uncovered expenses. To use natural remedies effectively, you need the self-awareness to tune in to your body’s needs.  You will need to set and follow a daily self-care regime. Let’s address the fine-tuning of managing this diagnosis.              ..read more

Years ago, when I had my third child, I experienced a severe post-partum mood disorder.  I have spent my professional life specializing in the treatment of mood disorders so, having experienced one, I was motivated to attend additional trainings to learn about the risk factors for perinatal mood disorders and how to prevent these illnesses.  I wanted to have another child and I did not want that illness to pop up again.             Perinatal means around the birth ..read more
