Hello everyone! I think I haven’t talked about my writing progress since… … ….. ……. MARCH?! Don’t worry guys, I kept writing. Here are my writing updates… 1. I FINISHED Vampires Don’t Drink Blood, my MG paranormal novel. Yup. Since March, I finished draft 2, sent it to critique partners, revised some more, sent to more critique partners, then cleaned it up and stamped it COMPLETE in the beginning of July. It was definitely a shorter process than Children of the Sun, which had taken multiple years, 10 or so drafts, and gone through 10+ CPs/beta-readers and a mentorship program. What I’ve Been Reading May/June 2021

Hello everyone, How are you all doing? I know I’ve been a bit MIA here. Life’s been busy and I’m still trying to find a good blogging-reading-writing-life balance. Now that baby’s on board, and I’ve decided to pursue writing seriously, time is limited and I have to pick and choose my priorities. I enjoy blogging and it’s taken a long time to build this blog up to what it is now, and I don’t want to give that up. But the reality is that now my “me” time is limited, and I want to use it to do something I love, something fun. That’s what’s been putting me off opening up WordPress and starting a ..read more

Writing After a Pandemic // GUEST POST by Jessica Stilling

As I started to edit my upcoming novel, The Weary God of Ancient Travelers, the pandemic loomed large in my head. When the world started opening up again I found myself staring at new writing projects like a deer in headlights. The world changed so much during the pandemic and with the vaccines it feels like the world is changing once again now that we’re almost on the other side. What will future readers look for when they read about these times? This question keeps me up at night as I venture into new projects and because of that I find myself unable to commit to longer projects, espec ..read more

Blog Tour // THE IVIES by Alexa Donne

Hi everyone! Alexa Donne is a YA author that I admire. For a long time, I’ve been following her Youtube channel where she posts a lot of great writing, querying and publishing industry insights. I also found my incredible author mentor Jennifer Camiccia through Author Mentor Match, which was hosted by Alexa. Of course I was thrilled to have been selected to be part of her blog tour for The Ivies! Everyone knows the Ivies: the most coveted universities in the United States. Far more important are the Ivies. The Ivies at Claflin Academy, that is. Five girls with the same mission: to get ..read more

Celebrating 4 years of blogging!
Sophie's Corner

Hello friends, I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for 4 years now. I was literally right in the middle of writing a blog post, then I was like, WAIT A MINUTE IT’S MAY AGAIN! Lol :’) I’ve been thinking a lot about blogging these days. With reading, writing, and now baby on board, blogging usually falls to the end of my to-do list. Thinking about the old days when I first began blogging, I really enjoyed each moment of it. I loved writing blog posts, replying to comments, blog-hopping. But now that my time is limited, blogging became one of the things that I just had to do, and sometimes it get ..read more

What I’ve Been Reading

Hi everyone! This was supposed to be the start of my wrap-up for April, but I realized that it’s already almost mid-May haha. Well, life happened and I have to say, the past few weeks have been a blur. I’ll have a life update-type post soon! I got a lot of reading done in April. I think I was (and still is) in that mood where I want to devour books. I’ve been trying to read a variety of age categories (adult, YA, MG). These days I’ve been in the mood for MG contemporary because it’s a really awesome genre. MG contemporary was also the reason that got me into MG in the first place. I love how ..read more

The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise (one of my fav MG books ever!)
Sophie's Corner
by Sophie Li

Hi everyone, From the moment I read the blurb for this book, I knew I would love it. The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise soon became one of my favourite MG novels ever and one of my fav novels I’ve read this year. Five years. That’s how long Coyote and her dad, Rodeo, have lived on the road in an old school bus, crisscrossing the nation. It’s also how long ago Coyote lost her mom and two sisters in a car crash.  Coyote hasn’t been home in all that time, but when she learns the park in her old neighborhood is being demolished – the very same park where she, her mom, and her sisters ..read more

Mini-Review // Beach Read
Sophie's Corner
by Sophie Li

When I heard about Beach Read, I thought it’s just like any other romance novel. But I really loved it! This is probably the best romance book I’ve ever read. Augustus Everett is an acclaimed author of literary fiction. January Andrews writes bestselling romance. When she pens a happily ever after, he kills off his entire cast. They’re polar opposites. In fact, the only thing they have in common is that for the next three months, they’re living in neighboring beach houses, broke, and bogged down with writer’s block. Until, one hazy evening, one thing leads to another and they strike a dea ..read more

My Unpopular Opinion about The Starless Sea
Sophie's Corner
by Sophie Li

Hi everyone, It’s been a while since I read The Night Circus but I remembered loving it, so of course when The Starless Sea came out, it was immediately on my TBR. Lots of people loved it and I thought I would too…. but I didn’t. Far beneath the surface of the earth, upon the shores of the Starless Sea, there is a labyrinthine collection of tunnels and rooms filled with stories. The entryways that lead to this sanctuary are often hidden, sometimes on forest floors, sometimes in private homes, sometimes in plain sight. But those who seek will find. Their doors have been waiting for them. Zach ..read more

March Wrap-Up

Hi everyone! Can y’all believe it’s the end of March?! I feel like I say that at the end of every month, but it’s true. We’re pretty much 25% through 2021. It’s been a rough month out there, hasn’t it? The world is a scary place sometimes. I am thankful, however, to be surrounded by amazing people and amazing stories, which help me focus on all that’s good in the world. I liked the format of the February wrap-up post so I’ll continue on! Here are the 6 things I did in March. 6. I finished 4 books! I thought I would love The Poppy War. In fact I was sure it would be THE next 5-star read fo ..read more
