Welcome to the Homestead Blog Hop!
I am so ready for spring to get here – if only the weather would cooperate! It’s been so chilly here lately. I’ve been slowly starting to get my garden ready. It’s hard to stay motivated when it’s 35 degrees outside. Hopefully, next week will warm up and I can get the peas and carrot seeds planted at least. I am excited about Easter this weekend. My son is coming home from college and I’ll be hosting all my family for dinner and an egg hunt. I hope you all have a wonderful & blessed Easter!

Happy Wednesday! Our maple syrup season is well on its way and we’ve got several bottles of syrup put up so far. But this past weekend we had quite the setback. I had been boiling down about 18 gallons of sap all day and got down to the final finishing steps. I was in the other room while the sap was boiling in the kitchen when I smelt something off. When I went to the kitchen I found that my stainless steel pot somehow began leaking at the seam! Approximately 30 ounces of sticky nearly-syrup had leaked out all over my gas stovetop. I was bummed to have lost all that time and sap, not to menti ..read more

Happy Wednesday! It’s been a quiet and very chilly week on the farm. I was excited to get our first batch of maple syrup boiling this past weekend, there is nothing quite like fresh maple syrup! We are also preparing for our first goat kids to be born on the farm. Momma goat is due in a couple of weeks so we built a kidding creep and pen. I can’t wait to meet these little guys!

I’m sorry for being late on this week’s hop! We have had quite a rollercoaster week. We got a big snow storm dumping several inches of snow on Tuesday. We also got our maple tree taps put in to gear up for maple syrup season. If you haven’t tapped trees before, it’s a really fun and easy process. You can learn more about tree tapping in my blog article by clicking here. We were also devastated yesterday by the loss of our dog. She had been bravely battling cancer for a few months so we knew our time with her was limited but her loss has left a huge hole in our hearts. She was the best little b ..read more
