Saying hello to everyone again on camera seemed a bit strange because it’s been so long since we filmed anything. If you’ve been reading our posts on our YouTube Community tab, Facebook page or our Instagram account, you’ll know that we’ve slowly been getting back on track after a winter of inaction. Once the sun started to shine, I must admit I began to feel more positive, despite the fact that Barry was continuing to show signs of what I thought was perhaps depression. We hired a car recently and visited a few sites around our local area and it was wonderful just to get out and about again ..read more

As I write this blog it's the first week of May 2022 and it's been a little over 11 weeks since my last blog. The reason for that huge gap happening is because I am only just now coming to the end of 'long covid'. The physical symptoms were very mild, I had a slight fever for one night, there was a period of about 10 days where I was short of breath and I had a very phlegmy cough. However the mental symptoms have been a totally different story. I have just proof read Aannsha's blog #220 and she has done such a fabulous job of explaining how the events rolled out that I recommend that you read ..read more

It’s always a pleasure to meet subscribers and Patrons. So when two of our Patrons Thorsten and Kerstin let us know that they would be visiting the Antalya region of Turkey, we were delighted when they suggested meeting us at our marina in Finike. We had a wonderful first meeting down below in A B Sea’s saloon and chatted and chuckled over a cup of coffee. We went for a walk around Finike and Kerstin and Thorsten explained that they’d hired a car and were visiting different ancient sites in the area and asked if we’d like to come along with them. One day when there was a break in the rain, the ..read more

I’ve wanted to visit Antalya Museum for months since several friends who’d visited gave us raving reviews. So I was very excited to spend time there on our second day staying in Antalya. Museum exhibits to amaze First of all Barry and I visited the restored Ataturk House Museum which was a fairly short walk from our hotel in the Old Town. It was interesting seeing how the house had been decorated when Mustafa Kemal Ataturk (founder of the Republic of Turkey) visited in 1930. I also liked the displays of his clothes and was surprised at how slim he was judging by the size of waistcoats and his ..read more

During our time in Turkey we've always been amazed at what's still remaining from ancient civilisations and there are so many ancient sites to visit that we'd never considered visiting an actual museum. That was about to change. Many of our friends had lauded the contents of the museum at Antalya and while we were enjoying our couple of nights stay at the Route hotel in Antalya Old Town it was the perfect time to once again flex our museum cards. Before we went to the museum we had a little side mission, a short walk to see the house that Turkey's first president, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, staye ..read more

I was so excited. We had a car that we’d originally hired to take Baz for tests to hospital and we’d extended the hire for seven days. Wanting to make the most of the car, we decided to treat ourselves and say in a hotel in Antalya for a couple of days. The weather forecast wasn’t what we’d choose, as rain was forecast for several days in the whole of the region. But we were going away. Staying in a hotel. And would be visiting the Museum at Antalya that several friends had highly recommended. I was like a kid in a toy shop just before Christmas. The drive to Antalya was smooth with great view ..read more

"How about a couple of nights in a boutique hotel in Antalya?" Aannsha asked. "Sounds good." I replied. We did have a hire car for a week and the drive from Finike to Antalya would only take an hour and forty minutes. A stay in a small hotel sounded like an opportunity for a relaxing time plus we'd get the opportunity to visit Antalya museum which many of our friends had been raving about. After bundling all of our cameras and suitcases into the car we set off heading north east from Finike to Antalya along the now quite familiar D-400 road. The nice lady that lives inside our sat nav occasio ..read more

Barry's Blog #216 - Birthday, Christmas, New Year

I'm not big on birthdays. When I was younger, and DJing for a living, I was usually working anyway so I counted that as my birthday celebration. In December 2021 it was my 59th trip around our Sun and to celebrate we went for a meal at the local restaurant just outside the marina gate. One of our long term supporters, Steve Brunning, had sent us a gift and urged us to treat ourselves to something nice, so we did. A birthday celebration meal. We asked Ant & Cid from SV Impavidus to join us and we had a fun night, great food and super conversation. We were so glad that Ant put the effort in ..read more

Barry’s nearly an old fart This year we celebrated Barry’s birthday at the local restaurant, Altın Sofra, which is situated just outside the gates in the marina complex. This treat was with great thanks to a long term subscriber of ours, Steve Brunning, who kindly sent Baz a very generous donation so that we could enjoy a meal. We invited our friends Ant and Cid (from SV Impavidus) to add to the merriment. Ant had difficulty walking as he was having extreme back pain (as a result of his spinal cord being put under pressure by compressing vertebrae), so we walked there and back very slowly. Ho ..read more

In late October 2021 SV Impavidus came into Turkey's Finike marina, her winter berth. We had been in touch with Ant and Cid for quite some time as they are fellow YouTubers and we'd pre-arranged to film their approach with our drone. It's always nice to include drone footage in any episode so we were happy that we were able to do that for them. Since getting to know them face to face we have become firm friends. We're on the same page on so many levels, it's like we've been friends forever. We even managed to open our very first face to face conversation with a light hearted insult as you'll ..read more
