Earlier this week, Michael Bierut, Sonia Williams, and I spent an hour on the phone together. Michael is an influential graphic designer based in New York, Sonia is a high school student in Paintsville, Kentucky, and I’m a designer at Automattic, living outside of Boston. Sonia came prepared with a great set of questions. She prompted Michael to tell us about his career, and to take us through some of his favorite projects. We talked about designing this website. Michael described how he came to use a photo of the earth to represent home: he’d aimed to show the most universal representation of ..read more

It is almost the end of half term for my children and I can honestly say I am ready for it to be over. Don’t get me wrong, we have had some really great days this half term and made some amazing memories together. We have played in the sun from morning till night, had picnics and danced to her hearts content. Now though, they are bored, over tired, agitated and so ready for the school routine to be back. However, on top of that love, is a love for each of them that is different-I hope you are still with me here? I guess you could see it like a triangle with two layers? The foundation of love that is built on all of the normal mum-child love and then the second layer of love which is unique between me and each child. For example, Riley ..read more

Hiya everyone, I hope you are all having a lovely Saturday. I am still not well and seem to now have tonsilitis and a chest infection so I have been feeling really rubbish and tired. Anyway, I have been doing some thinking regarding my blog and I thought I would share my thoughts with you as I don’t want to make changes without you all being aware (consistency is key and all that). Instead of writing a blog post every day, I have decided that I will start posting 2 times a week. I love blogging and I love my blog but trying to think of what to write everyday, it becomes pointless content, so i ..read more
