The Right Mirror!

If someone listens to God’s word but doesn’t do what it says, he is like a person who looks at his face in a mirror, studies his features, goes away, and immediately forgets what he looks like. James 1:23–24 The Right Mirror James says that God’s Word is like a mirror. It reflects who you really are. What God says about you is the true image that you need to keep in front of you. You are not defined by people, by your past, by how you were raised, or by what didn’t work out. You are defined by your Creator. When you look in t ..read more

Know God and His Ways “Teach me your ways so that I may know you and continue to find favor with you.” (Exodus 33:13) Make knowing God a top priority in life! Moses yearned to know God and to know his ways. In turn, God revealed himself to Moses. Moses found that through this process, he experienced God’s presence and his favor. Later, Moses was called to lead God’s people out of Egypt. He knew that the Israelites would die in the wilderness without God’s favor, so Moses made it a priority to teach the people God’s ways. As they lived for God, they too experienced his presence and ..read more

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. But the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?” Genesis 3:8–9 Where Are You? Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden, they were happy, confident, and secure. They knew God loved them. They walked with God, talked with God, and enjoyed being in His presence. But when they disobeyed, the condemnation came, the accusing voice that b ..read more

Seek God Deligligently!

Seek God Digligently “For he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6) This verse tells us that God responds to those who seek him. In fact, it says that God rewards those who “diligently seek him.” We show an attitude of diligence by avidly spending time in his Word. It is virtually impossible to know God’s will, his mind, his worldview, and his plan for our lives without studying his Word and spending time with him in prayer. When we really study the Bible, we find that it is alive and powerful, and that ..read more

Give Your Heart to God!

Give Your Heart to God “My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes delight in my ways.” (Proverbs 23:26) As we consider a life guided by the principles of Kingdom of God, we must begin by making sure that we have truly given our hearts to God. Once God has your heart, he is able to guide and direct you in every area of your life. There are many examples in the Bible of God working through individuals who surrendered their hearts to him. David had a heart that was after God, and God used him in a mighty way. Zacchaeus had a burning desire to see Jesus, and he responded immediately when ..read more

Echo into Eternity!

Echo into Eternity A reward time is coming. There is a time when each one of us will stand in front of the Judgment Seat of Christ for the purpose of receiving reward or suffering loss of reward. We do have accountability to the Lord for what we have done or not done here on this earth. Jesus Christ is coming back, and he is bringing a reward with him. The apostle Paul had a lot to say on this topic in the New Testament. Here are just two examples from his letters to the Corinthians: For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weigh ..read more

“The Lord says, ‘Tomorrow about this time, a basket of fine flour will be sold for one piece of silver in the gate of Samaria. And two baskets of barley will be sold for a piece of silver.’” 2 Kings 7:1 Suddenly Things Shift The Syrian army had surrounded the city of Samaria, cut off the Israelites’ food and water supply. Just when it looked like the people would starve to death, the prophet Elisha spoke today’s Scripture with its promise of a sudden abundance of food and supplies. One of the main leaders replied what most of the pe ..read more

Our Rewards in Heaven!

Our Rewards in Heaven Most people don’t understand the Bible’s view of eternity. They understand that there is a physical world, the one in which we live and age and finally die. And they realize there is the eternal world that follows, bound by heaven and hell, but not physical locations or the passing of time. They see it as a “someday” place, something not really real until we get there. Yes, there really is a physical heaven, where God is and where we will see him. Paul says that “for now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part ..read more

Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Acts 3:6 Put the Cup Down In Acts 3, a man who had been crippled since birth was begging for money every day at the temple gate. Occasionally someone would place a few coins into his outstretched cup. He was stuck in a negative mind-set because of his circumstances, not expecting anything to change, until Peter stopped and spoke today’s Scripture to him. Peter was saying, “Put down your cup because what G ..read more
