Our Favorite Inanimate Objects that Stole the Show in Movies...
Odeeva
by Clayton Du

Don't get me wrong, actors are great but sometimes a very special thing happens in the world of movie magic - and that's when an inanimate object steals the show. Doesn't matter who the object is sharing a scene with, somehow the object becomes the star. The silver screen's history features countless examples of this, the ruby red slippers from The Wizard of Oz, Reese's Pieces in E.T., and even the horse head from The Godfather. I rarely get to see myself in the mirror, at least in public bathrooms. I find this more a blessing than not, even though I regularly run the risk of showing up to an appointment in need of a little attention. Being a wheelchair driver means I am usually the shortest adult in the room. It also leaves me eye level with a lot of crotches and assholes. From that perspective, it is empowering to know that if at any point you find yourself looking at an asshole, MOVE. Even though we have the ADA, laws and periodic media attention on the forgotten minority about access, very few architects, designe ..read more

We LOVE the inspiring work of Girls Helping Girls. Period. This organization - founded by two teenaged sisters from New Jersey - is working to supply a year's worth of period supplies to women and girls across the U.S. Girls and women in communities all across the United States are missing school and work because they simply can't afford basic necessities like tampons and pads. Those items are not covered by food stamps and some families are forced to cut back or choose other critical purchases, according to the organization's site.   Check them out in action in this behind th ..read more
