Thank you for coming back to your community in these final hours. I had been worried when you didn't reappear for Dungeness crab season . . . I won't tell your rabbi. Here's your taqueria post in its forever home on Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/20220328073140/https://www.chowhound.com/post/taquerias-redwood-city-535387?page=2 But readers should study the version on your own site: http://www.emeraldlake.com/tacos ..read more

That’s called the Shameful Last Bite in Greece. I kept finishing these small amounts of food that were on communal family-style plates and platters, when I was taken out for a nice dinner in 2004 , not understanding why a bit was remaining on each plate, and not knowing it was a rude thing to do (in Greece and in Greek -in - Greece culture- not so common amongst Greek Canadians and Greek Americans in North America) until my friend let me know, after dinner. Now I’ve been leaving the Shameful Last Bite whenever I do share plates, tapas, dim sum or mezes, and a little part of me snickers when so ..read more

So this is it? ... I am so grateful for all the good things the CH community did for me. What a great, wild ride. (My sushi project and my RWC taco project are still up on my site, emeraldlake.com, in a frozen-in-amber suspended animation.) Melanie, thank you for being the driving wheel here for so long. Jim Leff: Thank you just for daring to think this might even be possible. To my wingman KK (too many sushi lunches to count), Takuhead, and the others I met in real life over delicious food: Thank you. Your presence made everything more delicious. It was a pleasure. To all of you who contribut ..read more

This thread is my all time favorite during my time on Chowhound. I woke up at 3:00 AM and couldn't get back to sleep. I happened on this post and had to roll over on my stomach and bite into my pillow so as not to wake up Mr. Pooch. Thank you for the wonderful memories, Love The Poochinator ..read more

I will be sad tomorrow when this place is gone. I have learned so much for all of you. COTM introduced me to cookbooks that I otherwise would never have heard of or bought: ad hoc at home, Marcella Hazan's Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking, Verdura, Fish Without a Doubt, Union Square Cafe Cookbook, Deep Run Roots, Small Victories, and Mexican Everyday. I also participated in (but already had and sometimes nominated) Lidia's Mastering the Art of Italian Cuisine, Smitten Kitchen Cookbook, Modern Comfort Food, More Mexican Everyday, Now & Again, Simply Julia, and the Margaritaville Cookbo ..read more
