Hawaii and a quest for authenticity

Entry #1 *This is NOT a travel blog, so let’s get that out of our systems right from the beginning. This is also not a polished product, so please keep any grammar or spelling corrections to yourself; frankly I couldn’t care much about grammar or spelling as long as whatever is written is legible. You could say this is a random spewing of thoughts from a 28-year-old who has had a few unique life experiences and happens to occasionally be in unique locations. For example, I’m currently in Ecuador writing this on a patio table, sipping coffee by a pool. Although I highly doubt that writing again ..read more

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference. Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do. Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. T ..read more

What Life in the Marine Corps is Actually Like

Blog #59 Two and a half years of military experience and a few weeks before my first overseas deployment gives me some qualifications to write this post; however, I do not pretend that I know everything or have experienced all that the United States Marine Corps has to offer. If anything I’m hoping that writing down some of my experiences will help me to internalize and articulate my feelings. That it will allow me to mentally prepare for what is ahead. I commissioned as an officer in the USMC in the Spring of 2018. Soon after, I went to The Basic School in Quantico Virginia to learn what it ..read more

Mentally, Physically and Spiritually Strong: The Three Pillars to Happiness
Benjamin Steele Blog

Blog #58 I just realized that I wrote the majority of this blog almost a year ago and that it would probably be worth finishing to publish. I hope you enjoy it. This blog has three parts, with each part focused on a different aspect of “strength” as portrayed in the title. In the USMC I often hear the importance of keeping mentally, physically and spiritually strong and I couldn’t agree more. I believe that all three pillars are essential to our overall well-being. A picture i recently took at big sur state park. beauty like this reminds me of the blessing that it is to be alive. Mentally Str ..read more

2019: The year in review

Blog #57 Although I hardly write blogs anymore, I thought that it was important to write another “year in review” as I wrote ones for 2016, 2017, and 2018. Actually, the fact I’ve written one every year and that I’ve had this website for that long actually impresses me a great deal. Also, the fact that I’ve now written 57 blogs on here in the first place also surprises and impresses me. It’s crazy how time flies. Possibly my favorite photo of 2019. Early morning light at The wedge in oc california. Coming out of a year straight of military training, 2019 has been a year for me to reconnect wi ..read more

How to win the morning
Benjamin Steele Blog

Blog #56 I’ve written about the subject of morning routines before, but as it is such an essential part of who I am as a person, I thought that it would be worth talking about again. You can read the original post here. I’ve noticed that I spend a lot of time learning from people that I want to emulate. Some names that come to mind are Joe Rogan, Tim Ferriss, Gary Vaynerchuk, Jocko Willink, Casey Neistat, and Dwayne Johnson. A lot of entrepreneurs, podcasters and creatives. There’s also, Steve Prefontaine, Bill Bowerman, and Steve Jobs. I spend a lot of time learning from people I admire beca ..read more
