i have a friend i’ve known for nearly 5 years. i haven’t seen him for about 2 now. yet he’s probably my closest friend. we talk nearly every day and i don’t really hesitate talking to him about what’s going on in my life anymore…which isn’t something i can say for a lot of people. and i mean ACTUALLY what’s going on. not the sneak peak goofy private story snap moments put out for entertainment. and this is something i’ve always struggled with. opening up. so let’s talk about what’s going on here. how is it that it’s easier for me to hit him up when something’s wrong, nearly 1000 miles away, t ..read more

i like to throw myself into new situations. new experiences. anywhere i can potentially learn more. find out things i had no clue about. i mean, isn’t that what life’s all about? embracing change. figuring out how things are evolving. figuring out how YOU are evolving. social distancing makes it kind of hard for that to occur. we are forced to stay holed up inside. of course it’s for the better of the people and it’s necessary regardless of how it may affect you. those around you may not be so fortunate with their immune system and we need to be mindful of that. so stay inside. stay away from ..read more

my last blog post talked about where it all began. all the way back to my very first blog post. and yes, like i said, we’ve come a long way since then. but we’ve also lost sight of some things along the way. and maybe more than i had thought previously.  the last couple of months i’ve been staying at my friend’s place. she was in a bad place and didn’t want to be alone.  we’ve all been there. and sometimes all we need is someone. i was willing to be that person. to distract her from toxic habits. develop a healthy lifestyle. steer away some of the negativity.  and while some of the time it was ..read more

lil more than a year ago i started my blog. and yeah it has had its ups and downs. as have i. i don’t know whether it’s a new years thing. or the fact that my birthday was yesterday and this is the start of another year for me... but i realized i have forgotten the significance of remembering where you started. and where you’ve gone from there.  on that note i wanted to share my first blog post with you all again.  https://www.manatat.com/blog/2019/1/2/this-is-to-2019 reading back through my posts lets me reflect on myself. life isn’t linear. we are going to screw up. we are going to take thin ..read more

as 2019 comes to an end we realize we are in a whole other place than we were when it began. day by day. moment by moment. without even noticing everything changes.  you grow. you experience. and you learn. i’ve been practicing patience. accepting things for as they are & being grateful for the good. i’ve learned the difference between hiding and living. between pain and reminiscing. it’s important to remember forgiveness. to remember that it’s okay to let things go. people will come and go as they please. sometimes for impure intentions. other times it’s just what’s best. but that’s life ..read more

you never know when life’s going to hit you with sh*t that you never would have expected. when things are going to switch up just like that. one thing. and all of a sudden doing anything seems impossible. we never think it’s going to happen. especially when things are going good.  there’s no reason to.  right? but then everything goes south. & you don’t want to drop from 100 to 0 real quick because even if you want to be on hold, life is going to keep on going.  so you either get on the ride or get left behind. that’s why it’s important to take precautions. to take a step back and apprecia ..read more

it’s so easy to settle. to think that this is the best it’s going to get for you. to let others take advantage of you because you don’t want to lose them. you let people cross the line and act like everything’s all good and fine.  but yeah right. still, you don’t act fazed. you put on a smile. you tell yourself and others what you need to go about your day as if you can’t do any better. as if you don’t deserve any better. so real talk. i’ve been peepin and i think it’s time for a wake up call. let’s spit some facts out.  my dudes. you can’t change anyone. you can’t expect the potential you see ..read more

okay. it’s time to bring up something that’s CLEARLY being seen in almost every picture on your feed.  facetune. so yes this one is mainly for the girls. but we don’t discriminate. nowadays, we go on instagram, vsco, etc. and scroll down on these bad b*tches thinking they’ve got no flaws when in reality they’ve all been smoothed out on facetune. or any editing app for that matter. is it a crime to use facetune? okay no it’s not that serious. and yes i bet half of us have or have had the app at some point in time.  like okay you really got a pimple that decided to take shelter on your face morn ..read more
