A new Wawa in the Bethlehem area is scheduled to open Thursday morning, and those attending will have a chance to get a free shirt and coffee. The new store at 3608 Nazareth Pike in Bethlehem Township will open at 8 a.m., according to a company news release. An Allentown man will serve 7 to 14 years in state prison for firing a gun into a bar, the state attorney general’s office said Wednesday. Paul Kerr, 30, had pleaded guilty to attempted homicide, illegal gun possession and discharging a gun into an occupied structure in the Jan. 7, 2023 shooting at Pagan’s Place in Allentown. According to police, Kerr was asked to leave the bar by the owner, Luis Pagan, who lives with his family above the business. A man wanted for shooting another man last year near Easton’s Centre Square was arrested this week, according to police. Easton police said in a news release that Tamir Freeman, 23, was arrested Tuesday in the Newark, New Jersey, area by the U.S. Marshals Service. Freeman, of Easton, had been wanted in a Dec. 11 shooting in the 200 block of Northampton Street, according to police. Authorities said Freeman shot the man, 30, about 9:30 p.m. that day. Presidential primaries may be high-profile elections, but Tuesday’s contests failed to motivate many voters to cast their ballots — whether in person or by mail — in numbers significantly higher than last year’s local municipal primaries. Lehigh County reported a voter turnout of 22.5% last May, slightly higher than the 22.2% reported Tuesday night. Last year, slightly more than one out of three votes cast was done by mail-in ballot.
