I plan to apply to my state's MD school for early decision, and then apply to DO schools should I not get in. I get the notification on October 1st. Is an application submitted 10/1 considered late for DO schools? submitted by /u/DelayedAutisticPuppy [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Im pursuing my nursing BSN with the intent to go to med school after (MD or DO) do osteopathic medical schools have a good chance at matching with cardiology ? My current doctor is a DO in psychiatry and thats my second choice but i just wanted some info, also are there any DO schools that dont require pre reqs apart from the MCAT? I know my questions are a mess but im still a couple years away from even entering the process for med school so i want to start getting my ducks in a row. Thank you! submitted by /u/Neat_Imagination_961 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I was that applicant who had low stats, and I always felt like people who had great GPAs and MCATs were the only ones posting. So here I am, to show you that you can make it even with lower stats. I’m non-trad. Graduated undergrad with a 2.4sGPA, and a 2.9cGPA. Worked as an ER scribe, EMT and ER Tech for several years while taking intermittent post-bacc classes. Managed to get my GPA up to 2.9sGPA, 3.09cGPA with a 507 MCAT. Applied two cycles. I ended up going to a top DO program in the Midwest and I could not be happier. Even though I had bad stats from undergrad, I just finished 2nd year in ..read more

KCU-COM (KC Campus) vs. Midwestern CCOM (Chicago Campus)

I am having trouble choosing between these two schools. For context I am from Chicago and would like to come back for residency, but I am down to move to. I don't know what I want to specialize in, but I have a light lean towards EM since I work in an ER and I like the lifestyle. I am also interested in Global Health, I don't know what I want to do in GH exactly, and it is not do or die for me, but it is still something I am interested in pursuing in some capacity. KCU -COM Pros Cheaper by like 20k Pass/ fail and less exams Global health Program that I am interested in as well as an DO/MPH Co ..read more

Hello! I was placed on a hold a few months ago and the school just reached out to see if I am still interested. They did this in January as well. Does anyone know anything about this or the likelihood of coming off hold to receive an interview invite at this stage in the cycle? submitted by /u/PlayfulPoet5330 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi guys! This is my top choice DO program right now. Wamyc here? ChooseDO says their avg cum undergrad gpa is 3.69 and mean mcat is 506. My stats are as follows: Cgpa (with SMP): 3.23 Sgpa (with SMP): 3.05 SMP gpa: 3.8 with 9-12 credits left MCAT: 506 Hours and everything else (including my reason for low gpa) are in my previous posts.
