Mary and her boyfriend got in a fight and Mary stormed out of the ballroom into the streets of Chicago. The Cecil Hotel was opened in 1927 by hotelier William Banks Hanner. Hanner envisioned the hotel as a West Coast getaway for the aristocratic elite. However, his plan was never quite given the opportunity to come to fruition. Soon after the Cecil Hotel opened it's doors, The Great Depression struck and the Cecil's halls began to fill with vagrants, addicts, and worse.
