You should see an official announcement soon, but on Monday Thorn Tree will become read-only. 14:00 UTC These are uncertain times for us all, and while we certainly hope that Thorn Tree will be back online in the future, the moderation team will sadly be saying goodbye after many years. It has been mentioned in another thread by @andreas_at_lp but if you have any topics you would like to bookmark or users you would like to stay in contact with, now would be the best time to do so. Have a Happy and Healthy Future. Last post at: 2020-04-12 15:57:53 UTC ..read more

EasyJet Voucher due to Coronavirus

EasyJet has cancelled all their flights from April 01. Since they do not give any refunds, and I have no idea to what date to change our flights (it depends when flight will start from Canada...). Therefore, I would like to get credit vouchers to be able to use it at a later date. They mention it on their web page that I could access the "voucher" via "Manage Booking". However, it's not true because I could only change our flight via "Manage Booking". Please, could somebody help me to find the correct way to get a credit voucher? Thank you in advance! Settlement Status

I know! I always thought we didn't have to apply for settlement status to stay in UK as an Irish citizen who has been living in UK since 2002. However, I made the mistake of sending my passport to get it verified and proceed with the application. I have since been in communication with the Home Office but I have not heard anything for a couple of days. I have asked for my passport to be returned. This shouldn't be a problem right? And I was going to write a further e-mail but don't want to annoy or frustrate the person on the other end as they will be dealing with more pressing matters right n ..read more

Highlands - what to see ?

Hi travelers I am looking to visit Scotland as part of a UK trip sometime in 2021. We do not have more than about a week that we can spend in Scotland. I am looking to do 2 days each in Glasgow and Edinburgh and then perhaps a 3 day tour of the Highlands. I like itineraries I’ve seen which go to Fort William, Skye, Loch Lomond etc however none go to Inverness. Is Inverness worth the stop or can we skip it? Naturally we don’t have time to do ALL of the Highlands so I just wanted to gauge an idea as to which places we really should see over others, and also perhaps see if anyone could recomme ..read more

Hello travelers! I am planning to go to the UK and Ireland next year and have limited time but want to see lots. After posting previously / consulting friends, I’ve narrowed down the cities I’d like to visit to Dublin, Belfast, and Galway. I have allotted about 2 days in each city and definitely intend to see the Giant’s Causeway while in Belfast, and the Cliffs of Moher while in Galway. Are there any other MUSTs while in those cities? I will be with my 16/17 year old sister and my mother (I am 23) and we love history and being immersed in the local culture. Thanks in advance! Last post at ..read more

Where to visit in the UK in 2 weeks?

Hi travelers! I am thinking to take my sister to the United Kingdom for 2 weeks next year to celebrate her 16th birthday - she has always wanted to go to Europe but I don’t know if we can go when she’s older since my partner and I will be starting a family in a few years. We are from Australia but I would only really have about 2-2.5 weeks away which I am ok with, but I am just wondering where people would suggest we go in Ireland and Scotland? I’ve been to London before but not elsewhere. My aim is to find the real beautiful places where there is a rich history and lots to do. Specifically ..read more

Since, like most of us, I'm more or less confined to the house, I'm busying myself with a little side project in the adventure travel niche. I'm looking to interview people with a passion for adventures, be it hiking, mountain climbing, scuba diving, wildlife photography etc etc. If thats you, and you have a little time to spare for a 20-minute chat on the phone, please get in touch! At the very least, it might be a fun way to pass the time while we're all in lockdown! Thank you! Take care and stay safe Last post at: 2020-03-24 14:44:55 UTC ..read more

UK lockdown and home quarantine

Hello, I wanted to ask about the probably very soon coming UK lockdown. I couldn't find any mention of it anywhere, so here goes. If we get ordered by government to all quarantine and stay home can I stay at someone else's house? I live with 2 housemates so I'd be rather trapped at my boyfriends house, but it's not my official address and I don't know if I'm even allowed to stay there for all lockdown period instead of my house. Any advice or suggestions please? Thank you, Kat Last post at: 2020-03-23 15:11:37 UTC ..read more

Hello, just wondering if anyone has flown into the UK during the past few days and were you checked for CV and did you have to self isolate for precaution? I am flying Emirates via Dubai and was wondering if there are any delays in Dubai / extra precautions that I should be aware of. Many thanks Last post at: 2020-03-16 00:15:35 UTC ..read more

Hiring a car for a 20-year-old in Scotland

Hello! I'm looking to visit the West Coast and Skye next week, and hiring a car seems like the best option. However, I'm a 20-year-old with a French driving license, so it's very difficult to find a car since the big companies have strict policies that ban renting cars to under 21s. But I was wondering if there are smaller, family-owned car rental companies in the area (or even in Glasgow) that are more flexible? Or even a more direct peer-to-peer rental? Cheers!
