Magnus Carlsen of Norway successfully defended his world chess championship title on Friday, extending an unbroken reign atop the game that began in 2013. He defeated his challenger, Ian Nepomniachtchi of Russia, in the most lopsided championship in recent memory, over a series of 11 games in Dubai that began two weeks ago.
Following the inexplicable blunders in games 8 and 9, Ian blundered again in game 11 to give Carlsen the edge he needed to end the championship match.

I don’t recall exactly when and how I picked up the game of chess. But I know it was between the completion of high school and before I went to university.
I recall frequently visiting a family friend almost every week. And one of the favorite things I did was to play chess with the kids. At the time, I did not have a chess set of my own so it was always exciting to visit this family as it gave me the opportunity to teach the kids and play with them.

These online CFC Rapid rated tournaments are played on chess.com in two sections. Pairings are done using CFC Active Ratings. To be eligible for cash prizes, you must sign on to zoom during your games.
When: Typically on Saturdays
Where: Online on chess.com/live
Format: 5 Round Swiss, CFC Active Rated. CFC or FQE membership is required for Canadian players and FIDE or USCF ID required for others.

Elevate My Chess is excited to introduce Online Group Lessons for all levels – Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced level players. Our group lessons are like no other as our class sizes are intentionally designed to be small (groups of 6 to 12 students) for better learning through more one-on-one online interaction between students and our instructors. We are happy to announce that registration is now open for our Summer Chess camps:
MASTER Chess Training Camp
This year, we are happy to host a special MASTER Chess Training Camp in preparation for the 2020 Canadian Youth Chess Championship (CYCC) and the 2020 Canadian Open. Instruction for this camp will be led by International Master Advait Patel (current FIDE Rating of 2451) with the support of other experienced chess coaches. This is a full day training camp that will run from Monday, June 29 to Friday, July 3, 2020 in Oakville.
