How can companies like Qualcomm, Mediatek and Samsung easily produce 3nm and 2nm smartphone chips but there's a high struggle going on in China to produce these? Why and how is it that this tech is available to everyone apparently but China?

I currently work in manufacturing at Lam. I recently interviewed for FSE positions both Lam and ASM. Information I've gleaned from some peers is that ASM will likely pay significantly more for then same role (a friend just jumped ship and went to ASM from Lam because they offered him around 35% more than Lam was paying, and Lam wasn't willing to negotiate his wage).

Hi,
I have a PhD in Physics from a top3 non-US university and over 6 years of experience working in cleanroom and lab environments.
I am currently on a J visa at a well-known national lab. I also have an approved I-140 but I won’t be able to act on it until likely 2026, meaning that until then any work opportunity is conditional on my obtaining a visa. Apart from doing H1B (which is a lottery) I am told I am also eligible for an O but of course, either option in contingent on finding an employer willing to sponsor me.
