The No. 16 USC women’s lacrosse team defeated the Hofstra Pride 9-8 in a nail-biting non-conference season opener in Hempstead, N.Y. Saturday. The Trojans have started their last five seasons off with a win and are now 2-0 all-time against the Pride. USC prevailed with a 33-degree wind chill at James M. Shuart Stadium. Women’s lacrosse fell to Colorado in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last year and hopes for another shot at a championship this season. No. 14 USC Lacrosse clinches regular season Conference title while honoring their seniors. USC women’s lacrosse rounded out its regular season play with a dominant 16-10 win over conference rival Arizona State to clinch the top seed for the Pac-12 Tournament. USC traveled across the country to face No. 20 Stony Brook in an out-of-conference game late in the season and fell 10-12, bringing USC to a 13-3 record just one game before the end of the regular season.
