Has a ghost ever followed you home? That’s exactly what happened to Sheri after she spent the night on the Queen Mary about four years ago. The Queen Mary is an iconic ship. In her heyday, she was state of the art and a marvel. She was created as the ultimate modern liner. Her job was to ferry passengers across the Atlantic in the lap of luxury. She only did this briefly before the outbreak of World War Two, at which point she was pressed into military service. The Queen Mary was so much faster than other vessels, and could carry so many men, that she offered a huge tactical advantage to the ..read more

Already have a preferred podcast listening app? Copy this: This week, we’re visiting the Bone Church, AKA Sedlec Ossuary. My guest  is Mike Shubic of Mike’s Road trip. Mike  recommended that I visit this church a few years ago. Ever since he told me about it, it has been on my “must see” list. Aside from being a completely bizarre and unique property, it is a UNESCO world heritage site. This is a very unusual church, located just outside the Czech town of Kutna Hora. The Bone Church and adjoining cemetery is the final resting place for the remains of somewhere between 40,000 to 70,000 indivi ..read more

I was absolutely thrilled to receive an email the other day letting me know that Supernatural Travel had been added to Feedspot’s list of Top 50 Paranormal Blogs for 2018. U Gustava – The Time Traveler’s Speakeasy Bar in Ostrava, Czech Republic
Supernatural Travel

The entrance to the time-traveler’s speakeasy in Ostrava was easy to miss. There was only a small sign above a sunken staircase in the Old Town area.  There was no way to see past the basement entrance into the bar below. A dark curtain hung across the door, blocking all light and curious eyes. U Gustava was advertised to us as a speakeasy, but also as magical. Not just any speakeasy. The bar was created when the time-traveling, globe-trotting namesake of the bar shared a book of his recipes with the present owner, a humble 22 year old with a dream. Many of us have been to a speakeasy-style ..read more

It’s 9 o’clock on a summer Tuesday and the sun is just starting to set at Greyfriars. Long beams of golden light cut between the graves, illuminating the names of the long forgotten.  Are we in the company of spirits? Blue orbs light up in my viewfinder, clear on one shot, gone on the next. I cannot say whether it’s a ghost or a trick of the late evening light. Perhaps it is a ghost, playing tricks with the light and my lens. Portions of this post originally appeared on Travelfluential.com  Greyfriars Kirkyard (cemetery) in Edinburgh is a world famous graveyard.  Behind the tall iron gates yo ..read more

Haunted hotels, ghostly tours and aura readings…  Have you tried any of these experiences? In this episode 25 we discuss 10 of the ways we challenge ourselves as travelers. Traveling “Beyond the Bucket List” is becoming increasingly popular. People want to try new things when they travel. For some people, this means sampling a local delicacy. Already have a preferred podcast listening app? Copy this: On this special episode of Supernatural Travel Tales I was joined by my frequent travel companion and husband, Brian Maso, aka “Brian the Skeptic.” Brian keeps my imagination in check. He’s a font of random historical trivia and far more of a rationalist than me, which occasionally is a good thing.  On other occasions, we agree to disagree which is also ok. What spooky travel experiences creep seasoned travel bloggers out? I put out a call to travel bloggers near and far to find out and what I got back was a truly haunting collecti ..read more
