I have experienced bias. In different ways, scenarios, geographies….. Gender related Race related Seniority related Experience related Appearance related Pay related You don’t think it could be you. I never thought it could happen to me. You probably know someone on the receiving end. She just didn’t speak up. Or tell you. Your sister, mother, aunty, cousin, wife, partner, colleague, neighbour. You. Me. You’d be surprised. I was. Break the bias. Break your bias. Stop the bias. Stop your bias. Check your bias. Conscious and unconscious. Start today. Start now. Challenge your th ..read more

Happy “Twosday”!! How many people noticed today’s date of 22.02.2022? Or if you’re like me, have been waiting for it?! This is the UK format for those who might be wondering…. So. The date is very unique for a number of reasons (pun intended ). 22.02.2022 is a palindrome, meaning it reads the same forwards as it does backward! 22.02.2022 is also an ambigram, meaning that if you arrange the digits of the date in vertical order, it will read the same upside down as well!! (Do it yourself) Plus, this date won’t happen again for 400 years or 200!! (depending on the publication you find ..read more

HAPPY NEW YEAR PEOPLE!! “A year in a day” – that was the title of the first blog I wrote, 3 years ago on January 1, 2018. The day I started this ‘ere blog. I wrote stories growing up, scribbling in notebooks wherever I could find them.  Essay writing was not hard for me at all! I started a micro blog when I left the UK and came to the US in 2012. It was for the company I worked for, writing about my life in America, both in and outside the office, for the UK peeps. There I was, a management consultant on a 12-month role as an “Ambassador” in the Global Marketing organization, it was excit ..read more

Otherwise known as “Twelfth night”, meaning the twelfth day after Christmas, which means the end of the “twelve days of Christmas”, also known as Twelvetide in some circles or Chrismastide in others; and generally referred to as the official end of Christmas/the festive season and/or most importantly, the day widely believed (especially if you’re British!), as the day when your Christmas tree/Christmas decorations should be taken down. Good? Ok. Thank you. So what day is that then? Good question. I was waiting for you to ask. Depending on your religious leaning, superstitious tendencies or pla ..read more

20.10.20, #EndSARS, A Rant and a Wail

I don’t even know where to start so I’ll just start writing and ranting because it’s all too much. The words are swirling around not understanding or knowing what to do with themselves. About a week ago I heard about “#EndSARS” protests by youths in some cities in Nigeria, Lagos having the most. My siblings shared some photos and videos in our WhatsApp group. I had no idea what “SARS” meant or was about. I sometimes have my head in a bubble and avoid the news, frankly especially “Naija” news because a lot of times I just go “WHAT NOW”? Then I take to the internet…..social media to be precise ..read more

When I moved from England to America in June 2012 that was when I realised I was….black. Titi what? I can probably pinpoint when that thought confusing thought hit me. I think it was a form I was filing out and the only “category” available to me was “African American”. But you’re not “African American”…..? I wanted to explain. I didn’t understand what I was trying to understand at the time. Is African American the term for….black? So if you’re not this, you’re that? It was when I heard Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie say this same thing in an interview years later, that knew I wasn’t crazy for ..read more

Every day we live in fear Fear? Fear that something good will happen Fear of change? You changing? Fear of dealing with too much change?
