Digital Leap has brought the participants together in four learning modules to learn how to better navigate in digital environments and discuss with experts from other fields. Based on the well-known suspense novel by Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson and commissioned by the Finnish National Ballet, Val Caniparoli’s ballet Jekyll & Hyde had its world premiere in November 2020. Due to pandemic restrictions in place at the time, only a limited audience had the chance to see the performances. The production returned to the Finnish National Ballet’s repertoire in April 2023.

Six dance artists from different countries travel for 40 days across Europe from Tampere, Finland, to Ljubljana, Slovenia, performing public space performances along the way. The trip is like an art laboratory, where the relationship with different spaces and audiences is explored through performances.

“It is important for the company to pave the way for a change of generation in good time, as well as bringing audiences pieces by other choreographers, alongside our own repertoire,” explains Choreographer Tero Saarinen.
Tero Saarinen Company, which was founded in 1996, is expanding its operations and will be producing more pieces also by other choreographers in its portfolio. The jury consisted of Finnish and international performing arts professionals: Eva Neklyaeva (Independent curator), Lotta Nevalainen & Riitta Aittokallio (Circus & Dance Info Finland) and Vigdís Jakobsdóttir (Reykjavik Arts Festival).

The fourth edition of Performing HEL showcase takes place on August 31 – September 3, at the same time as the Helsinki Festival.
The showcase presents a full range of performing arts, including circus, dance, and theatre, also delivered in exciting yet difficult-to-define combinations. In four days almost 30 Finland-based artists and companies present their work through pitch, demo and performance programs.

The next Ice Hot platform will be held in Oslo February 14–18, 2024.
All Nordic dance artists and companies are welcome to submit their applications for the artistic programme of Ice Hot 2024. The application period is between February 8th and March 30th 2023.
The call is open for professional artists or companies living in or receiving support from one of the Nordic countries. You can also be living outside of the Nordic countries but in this case you need to have a Nordic citizenship.
