Week 12: CMOS Circuits and EagleCAD For this week’s lecture I’m introducing you to some CMOS circuits using chips originally designed to build computers. This is based on a blog series posted by Elliott Williams called Logic Noise. I would encourage you to watch some of his videos if you’re interested in this kind of thing! Due by 5pm the day before your next lab: Lab Report 12: Show me a clear 30-60 second video of your project working. You should only have one or two things left to do for your final project. This report counts the same as your other lab reports (about 5% of your grade ..read more

This is an optional/extra credit assignment about designing PCBs (printed circuit boards). I’m posting it for anyone interested in taking your analog or digital projects and making them into professional quality printed circuit boards. It’s actually not the hard – anyone who really wants to can do it with just a few days of practice using the software after going through the demo videos below, in which I record the entire process of making a PCB of the multi channel step sequencer lab circuit. The more advanced aspects are covered in the Electronic Product Design class (MPATE-UE/GE 2017). You ..read more

(Yes it says Week 8 at the beginning! This was the Week 8 lecture last semester.) There’s no deliverable homework assignment for this week! Instead, do part 1 below, and think about part 2 as necessary. Part 1) Watch the lecture video above and do the code and wiring along with me starting around 33:40, and get that working. Next week in the lab (week 10) we’re going to make a one channel drum sequencer. Then on week 11, for the last lab of the semester, we’ll make a multi channel drum sequencer. That will entail combining together the longer demo from the lecture video (the one that starts a ..read more
