Discovering Your True Calling

Discovering Your True Calling One of the most frequently asked questions I encounter during my travels and speaking engagements across the country is, "How do I find my calling?" I can relate to this inquiry because I once pondered the same question for what felt like an eternity. While sorting through some photographs I took in Wyoming, I stumbled upon the image above, which serves as a wonderful illustration. The photograph above captures the Sheepeater Cliff Bridge in Gardner, Wyoming, located near the entrance to Yellowstone. Observing it from a distance, I expressed my desire to Bryan ..read more

Demon Behind Every Bush?
Salt & Grace Blog

I will always remember the wise words of one of my highly respected pastors/mentors who told me, “There’s not a demon hiding behind every bush—meaning not every challenge is a result of demonic influence." While I acknowledge that demons exist and have encountered them in my jail and prison ministry, it's important to strike a balance and not give Satan excessive credit. In some cases, struggles arise from simple disobedience rather than demonic possession. Paul tells us to, “walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the ..read more

Divine Nail Appointments

Divine Nail Appointments I was preparing for an upcoming event when I realized that my nails were in dire need of attention. Unfortunately, my regular nail technician was out of town, so I decided to try a different salon. Stepping into the beautifully furnished Asian-owned salon, I took a seat. Shortly after, the nail technician started working on my nails, and a lovely lady was seated beside me, with her own nail technician tending to her nails. As we struck up a conversation, she complimented my earrings, and it wasn't long before our discussion turned to matters of faith. It turned out ..read more

Not Gonna Be Popular

This is why I’ll never be popular with man, or probably never invited to speak to the masses in our country. God has called me to be a watchman on the wall--to speak truth and declare the Word of God boldly. I will never apologize for this. I know He who has called me is faithful, and I am committed to speak the truth—the whole truth—of His Word with love, but also with boldness and urgency. I don’t do pre-seeker friendly, seeker friendly, or pre-evangelism. “Choose you this day whom you shall serve.” Joshua 24:14  “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” Psalm 95:7&nb ..read more

Count the Cost

This is probably going to reveal my age but when I was in elementary school, we got a good paddling if we misbehaved. I vividly remember getting in trouble in the second grade. I honestly can’t remember what I did but it was enough that I, and another student had to stay inside for recess. We were told that we were not to speak to each other, and we were not to get out of our seats for anything except a fire alarm. Our teacher took our well behaved classmates out to the playground. After sitting quietly for some time with no one coming in the room to check on us, we decided to talk to each ..read more

The Importance of Partnership

The Importance of Partnership This past Sunday, I received a message through Facebook. I didn’t know who this lady was, but she was hoping to connect with me. She introduced herself as Julie Seals, and I noted that she is also an Assemblies of God minister. She shared a bit about herself and had a few questions about becoming an evangelist.  I asked her to call me on Tuesday morning so I could share what she could do to take her next steps as an evangelist. We had a great conversation, and I was overwhelmed by her testimony. It was such a God connection! I asked if she had a video of ..read more

Encountering the Miracle Working God!

I don't even know where to start. God just continues to amaze me with all the things HE is doing. I'm in AWE.  Do you see the picture above? THIS BLIND MAN WAS HEALED AND HE CAN NOW SEE! I was invited to speak for a women's brunch and Sunday morning service at First Assembly of God in Tullahoma, TN a couple months ago. The women's conference on Saturday was wonderful, but I was totally unprepared for what God was about to do on Sunday! I preached a simple message about being ready for Jesus to return, and how we should be hungry for so much more from Him. I shared the mi ..read more

Don't Be Polluted

Don’t Be Polluted I love Jesus. Anyone who knows me well knows that, and they also know that I love the Holy Spirit. I talk about Him constantly. I also frequently talk about how I believe the amount of Holy Spirit power we walk in, directly correlates to how much we are willing to surrender in our lives. This has been my own personal experience, and I have read books from many powerful old-time evangelists who share that same opinion. Don’t get me wrong. I know that we live under grace, and we cannot earn our salvation. It cannot be bought. It is a free gift. Ephesians 2:8,9 NIV - For it i ..read more

I Give Myself Away

“I give myself away,” those were the words that I sang from the bottom of my heart when God first called me into ministry thirteen years ago. That sweet, but powerful song, by William McDowell, caused something to rise up within me. And I realized that if I truly wanted to be usable for God’s glory, I would need to give up my own selfish desires to do His will. I would need to surrender my own plans, and the desires of my flesh, to do all God was calling me to do. My hearts greatest desire was to be, and continues to be, totally surrendered to His will and not my own. We also sing thi ..read more

Fan the Flame & Let it Shine

Fan the Flame and Let it Shine I was recently reflecting on being a child in Sunday school and all the cute little Bible songs we sang. I’m sure many of you can relate to singing, This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine. In my mind, as a youngster, I envisioned holding a small flickering birthday candle in front of me carrying it wherever I went.  I knew from experience that a birthday candle was small, and that tiny flame could easily be snuffed out. So, I understood that I must be careful to keep it shining. The misconception was the idea that the flame was on the outside of ..read more
