The focus will be on versatile players instead.
According to The Ahtletic’s Chris Waugh, in a Q&A published on May 7, Newcastle is unlikely to sign a through-and-through left-back this upcoming summer.
That said, Waugh revealed that the Magpies will explore the possibility of signing one or more “versatile defenders.”
Lloyd Kelly, currently at Bournemouth and familiar with Newcastle’s manager Eddie Howe, will be available on a free transfer and has caught the interest of Newcastle, according to Waugh.
Kelly can play bo ..read more

Bruno would rather stay up north than moving to North London.
Arsenal is reportedly scouting and evaluating Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes as a potential addition to their midfield, particularly to take over the No. 6 role. This interest comes amid broader considerations in the club’s midfield plans for next season, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
Bruno has a release clause of £100 million in his contract that runs through June 30 and is no longer triggerable from July 1 on. As much as that fee could pose a financial challenge for Arsena ..read more

One of the things Waugh reported was the new Potential Sanction Risks (PSR) rules to be introduced in the 2024-25 season will “coexist with existing regulations,” easing clubs into the transition ..read more

The Magpies might have send another team down to the Championship.
Newcastle United completed another demolition by beating Burnley 4-1 at Turf Moor, and getting closer to accomplishing two things on their way there, including (almost) sending another team down to the Championship after doing so to Sheff Utd last week and (almost) clinching European football qualification for next season.
After Saturday’s win at Burnley, it feels like the pursuit of European qualification is done for the most part with the only thing left to know is whet ..read more

Golden nuggets from Howe before Newcastle visits Lancashire!
Newcastle will face Burnley at Turf Moor in MD36 of the Premier League campaign. The Magpies, currently in a solid position for a top-seven finish, previously defeated Burnley 2-0 at St. James’ Park in September and they will try to pull off the double over the Clarets for the third time in as many years.
Burnley, struggling near the bottom of the table, have earned a mediocre 11 points in their last eight matches. This includes a recent 1-1 draw against Manchester United, however, which NUFC probabl ..read more

This suspension overlaps the prior one so it won’t impact Tonali’s availability for next season.
Newcastle United announced on Thursday, May 2, that midfielder Sandro Tonali has received a two-month suspended ban from the Football Association (FA) for violating betting regulations.
This decision comes while Tonali is serving a 10-month suspension imposed by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) in October for similar infractions, and with both suspensions overlapping that means Tonali won’t have to serve extra time off the field, meanin ..read more

Will it be Australia? Will it be Japan? Nobody knows about that!
To probably not many people’s surprise, Newcastle United is reportedly set to conduct their pre-season tour in East Asia, with Japan emerging as the likely destination instead of other less prominent countries or other nonsensical (operationally) continents.
The reported plans include two friendly matches against J-League teams, including the Urawa Red Diamonds and Yokohama F Marinos. None of those two clubs nor members from NUFC’s brass have confirmed the tour.
The decision to choose Japan aims ..read more

Time to embrace an inevitable sale.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, and despite ongoing speculation, Newcastle forward Alexander Isak has not generated significant interest from Arsenal.
The club’s focus seems to be on strengthening the central striker position and the midfield, although Ornstein revealed he’s not heard strong whispers linking the Gunners with Isak at least for now.
Ornstein went on to explain that the arrival of Kai Havertz could influence Arsenal’s strategies, especially if Gabriel Jesus remains with the team. O ..read more
