Hi. Me and my flatmates are moving out of our flat on the 31st of May. Every month we pay our rent on the 7th. Our landlord has requested we pay the full rental amount for the month despite moving out halfway through the payment period. We gave notice that we wanted to move out the 31/05 in early April. So my question is my landlord entitled to ask for the full payment and if not how do we calculate how much we should pay.
Side question, if we do have to pay the full monthly period are we then entitled to stay until the 7th of June instead of the date we said we were going to move out.
Thanks ..read more

Hello Edinburgh. I will be at fringe for the first time this summer coming and I am coming from the USA alone. I know one producer who will be there but he is a new acquaintance. I’ll be in Edinburgh for 8 or 9 days and I would like to see as many shows as possible + do some networking.
As I have never been to fringe before (and not entirely sure what to expect), I’d love some advice/tips on the festival and also Edinburgh in general. I intend to bring my own one person show there next summer but it is in development and not written at this point. That being said, I want to see as many venues ..read more

I've lived here for the past (almost) 3 years but although I've seen hotel prices higher than most cities, it's been nowhere near what I'm seeing today. Trying to book a one night stay for next week and prices are around 300-500£ for ONE NIGHT in an average-ass hotel. Even the not-so-great ones like the holiday inn are £250+ a night, what gives? Is there some even happening in may that maybe I don't know of, or is this standard procedure? Because what the hell.

Edit: I may be going insane/ overthinking this one the company is registered apparently.
Been trying to find a place to rent, there is this one place that I’ve been offered, I went to the viewing all seemed fine, but now the letting agency are asking for rent and deposit upfront before signing lease (which I know is illegal, but also not uncommon). So I double checked and the flat is registered on the landlord registry but has a private persons name and no mention of this letting agency. I then checked the letting agency number in the registry and it isn’t even listed!
This is a scam right? T ..read more

Hello!
I will be traveling to beautiful Scotland in October and I’m so excited to visit Edinburgh! I’m wondering what there is to do on Halloween there. Are there any special events? Something spooky maybe? :) I am from Toronto, Canada and there’s usually Halloween events and I’m wondering if there’s any in Edinburgh.
Thank you in advance! And I cannot wait to visit. I’ve already fallen in love with Edinburgh and I haven’t even gone yet!

My dad died at the start of the year and I feel I’m ready to let go of his things, so I’ve got his whole wardrobe, about 15 jackets, and a lot of shoes to shift. Looking for any charities that will take a lot of clothes that I can drive to, if anyone knows of ones that help the unhoused and/or refugees that would be great as it’s something my dad cared deeply about, but also anywhere that is in need of men’s clothes.

Greetings!
I am seeking recommendations for workshop experiences, specifically for May 18th. Something similar to the Islander Experience would be nice, however, I am open to all suggestions.
Thank you muchly!
Edit :: The Islander Experience is a workshop in which you can assemble your own bag. They provide the materials and space. I am open to any workshop type of experience where we can make something or do something with our hands.
