Today, Filipino running icon and my dearest friend, Patrick “RunningShield” Concepcion, passed away. He was the epitome of a real runner – self-effacing, humble, and kind. You would always just see him swiftly, lightly running by with a quick wave and his big smile. To me, he’ll always be running. RIP PatCon. You will be missed. Marathon No. 17: Barcelona Marathon Here’s my review of Barcelona Marathon 2019 from the route to hydration and crowd support. Read on! Since 2009, I’ve been running 1 to 3 marathons per year.  This streak was broken in 2017 when I unexpectedly DNF’d at Marine Corps Marathon due to a foot injury, then in 2018 I suffered health issues that forced me to rest from running long distances to allow for full recovery.  To say that 2018 was a tough year for me would be an understatement. It was the most difficult year in my 42 years on this earth. But, when I came out of it alive, I was wise ..read more

For years now, I wanted to put my Health Coach certification into practice. But, for those who know me well, running always came first. My focus was running my own marathons. And, inspiring people to run their own through TBR Dream Marathon. Then, the pandemic happened. Without races as goals, I was lost. I gained 10 lbs even if I was running and biking. My cholesterol was at an all-time high by October 2020. I was at my unhealthiest both physically and mentally. Thankfully, I pulled myself out of that rut. I lost 8 lbs and stopped obsessing over my weight, went vegan, dropped my cholestero ..read more

If you’re working or studying from home, it’s easy to lose all track of time. Get your run done first thing in the morning.  Don’t even think about it. Just do it.  It also sets you up for the rest of the d ..read more
