There's been a big upload of new items to my Etsy shop. I've been sewing up a storm of fabric cuffs. Some are funky. Some are elegant. More are on the way. So if you are interested in some fiber art accessories for yourself or to gift, head on over and give it a peek.
Before you do, you can get a preview right here.

Paper Card Holder
Today on the Arnold Grummer Papermaking blog are my directions for making a card holder to coordinate with a bag I created for Gwen Lafleur’s Artist Tribe. After adding leftover fabric and thread into the hand made paper, it was turned into a business card holder so I’d be ready when people asked me where I got my bag!  ..read more

Stenciling on fabric!
If you have been following my Instagram feed you will know about the piece of fabric that my sister and I have been passing back and forth between us for decades. This fabric was bought at a dollar a yard shop when I was in college. Back then, if it was cotton I bought it.
The problem with using up this fabric is that 1.) I did not have any project in mind when I bought it. When I don’t what I am going to use a piece of fabric for I tend to buy a lot. 2.) The pattern is not the easiest to use in just any project. 3.) The pattern is not centered to grain. If yo ..read more

When Gwen came out with her new line of stencils I immediately fell in love with the Boho Circle Collection. I chose the Boho Star Circle Stencil. I immediately thought of making a pincushion. The pattern lent itself to the project and I discovered I needed a new pincushion. As they say, “necessity is the mother of invention.”
While the intention was to use different colors, the blue against the white was so classic it overcame.
The pincushion is made from a white piece of fabric. The stencil was transferred to the cloth using DecoArt SoSoft Fabric Paint in Neon Blue. The paint lef ..read more

It all started with this:
A box of sari scraps from Gwen Lafleur. So beautiful. I have hoarded them for a while now, playing with them, mix and matching them. So beautiful that I was loath to cut them up and use them. I have long been wanting to make a cuff from them. Actually, I had several other pieces in mind, but I still can’t bring myself to cut those, so I used a piece I love, but felt ok about using.
Materials:
Irresistible India Embellished Sari scraps
quilt batting (I used organic cotton that I had leftover from a project over 10 years ago)
needle thread
Sari ribbon fr ..read more

Most of the clothes I own are devoid of pockets. This means that juggling a cell phone is an adventure. Finally, there seemed to be no other choice but than to make an over the shoulder bag to cart it about wherever life might lead. Well, if you are going to make a bag, why not make it awesome? If you’re making something awesome, Gwen has the goods that will get you started.
I decided to use some paper from Gwen’s shop to make some paper fabric to then construct the bag using that material.
Materials Used:
piece of cotton fabric (I used muslin)
painter’s tape (well, I used masking tape ..read more

I love Bohemian style. Years ago a guy with a green mohawk taunted me by saying with a sneer “You’re so Boho!” I laughed because I didn’t think that was an insult. In fact, I wore it as a badge of honor. Boho is a style that I love.

Shabby Chic collide) and so many more. My boho style is somewhere between Boho Bold and Boho Chic. I love the Lagenlook trend, the upcycled, recycled, mended and reimagined. I love color and neutrals. The boro esthetic, an extreme form of mending and making do, visually appeals to me.

This friendship book is something that I have needed for a long time but didn’t know it. It will be a place that will keep the many treasured tags, ATCs, notes, index cards, words of encouragement collected from, you guessed it, friends. Like an autograph book for the internet age.
This project has come together by accident. Can’t deny it. So I’ll let you in on how it came to be.
It started with this idea that I would make some Moravian Stars from stenciled paper for my post in December. ( I used the Decorative 6-petal screen stencil.) Sounded good to me, but I hit some techni ..read more

Many of my projects start as ideas for one project and end up an entirely different object in the end. This project has flown far from the concept.
It all started because I was cleaning, well clearing, at the end of the year. I came upon a great stash of CDs that had really served their purpose. Many of them held the projects I did when I was earning my Master of Library Science more than 10 years ago. In looking for something in another room I found the printable CD stickers in their original box. Thus came the original idea – I would print on them and then crochet them into a bag. T ..read more
