Titans' 2023 roster unemployment rate among highest in NFL

There’s a very simple reason why the Tennessee Titans finished 6-11 last season and missed the playoffs for the second straight year: their roster just wasn’t good. One of the many ways to gauge that is to take a look at the percentage of the team’s 2023 roster that remains unemployed after nearly two months of free agency. According to Jason from Over The Cap, 24.1% of Tennessee’s 2023 roster remains without a new home, tied for the fourth-highest in the NFL. This was posted before Tennessee’s re-signing of Marlon Davidson, so that will lower the percentage — but the Titans will still be fift ..read more

The Tennessee Titans made an addition to their defensive line room on Monday, with the team agreeing to terms with Marlon Davidson. A former second-round pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 2020, Davidson was signed to the Titans’ practice squad in October of last year after being released by the San Francisco 49ers. Davidson ended up getting into five games (three starts) with Tennessee, tallying 10 tackles (two for loss) and one sack. The Titans desperately needed to add more depth to their defensive line, which was one of the team’s biggest weakness going into the offseason. Davidson will have a ..read more

The Tennessee Titans are exploring their options for more depth at the wide receiver position and are reportedly set to host former Jacksonville Jaguars wideout Zay Jones on a free-agent visit. The news comes from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who notes that Jones is coming to Nashville on Monday. Jones already has some familiarity with the Titans thanks to his connection to offensive coordinator Nick Holz, who was Jacksonville’s passing-game coordinator in 2023. Jones was slowed by injury in 2023, appearing in just nine games and tallying 321 yards and two scores. But the year before that, the ..read more

Which Titans UDFA is most likely to make the 53-man roster?
Titans Wire | Tennessee Titans News
by Mike Moraitis

The Tennessee Titans have signed a slew of undrafted free agents after the 2024 NFL draft, although we’re still waiting on them to make the signings official. One of the reported signings is Texas Tech offensive lineman Cole Spencer, who Bleacher Report’s Ryan Fowler believes has the best chance out of Tennessee’s reported UDFA signings to make the 53-man roster. With more than 330 snaps accrued at left tackle (2,774), left guard (454) and right tackle (339), Cole Spencer’s versatility could help him pave the way to a backup role with the Tennessee Titans. Spencer transferred t ..read more

Titans draft pick Jaylen Harrell: What scouting reports say
Titans Wire | Tennessee Titans News
by Mike Moraitis

The Tennessee Titans’ final pick in the 2024 NFL draft was Michigan edge rusher Jaylen Harrell, who was taken in the seventh round with pick No. 252. Harrell actually has an NFL pedigree, as his dad, James, played in the league for eight seasons, seven with the Detroit Lions and one with the Kansas City Chiefs. However, Jaylen did something his dad didn’t: he got drafted. “My pops, he was undrafted, you feel me?,” Harrell said. “So, he had that killer mindset, that ‘They have to take it from me.’ Just getting that mindset instilled in me at such a young age, just being able to get drafted.” H ..read more

Will Titans receive any compensatory draft picks in 2025?
Titans Wire | Tennessee Titans News
by Mike Moraitis

The Tennessee Titans are not projected to receive any compensatory picks for the 2025 NFL Draft, according to projections. That comes from both Lance Zierlein of NFL.com and Over The Cap. It will be the third straight draft in which the Titans aren’t receiving any. The Titans last received a compensatory pick in the 2022 draft, when they were awarded two for losing wide receiver Corey Davis and defensive lineman DaQuan Jones. The year before that, right tackle Jack Conklin moving on in free agency to the Cleveland Browns gave Tennessee one. Compensatory picks are calculated based on the number ..read more

2 Titans selections crack top-100 draft picks list
Titans Wire | Tennessee Titans News
by Bryce Lazenby

The Tennessee Titans had an interesting draft. On one hand, the team selected players to fill the biggest positions of need. On the other hand, the team didn’t choose the players many people expected. Mock drafts for months had the Titans picking Joe Alt from Notre Dame. Instead, the Los Angeles Chargers ruined that plan by taking Alt with the fifth pick. However, reports came out that Latham was the preferred choice of offensive line coach Bill Callahan. Matt Miller of ESPN recently ranked the 100 best picks of the draft. Two of the Titans’ picks were included in the list, with Latham and cor ..read more

Titans' history with 5th-year options after declining Caleb Farley's

When it comes to picking up fifth-year options for first-round picks, there are few teams in the NFL who have been worse in that department than the Tennessee Titans in recent years. According to Jason from Over The Cap, the Titans have picked up just one of their first-round picks’ fifth-year options since 2018, tied for the third-lowest percentage in the NFL. That option belonged to Jeffery Simmons, of course. And that just goes to underscore how awful Jon Robinson’s first-round picks were over the years. He was better in the later rounds of drafts earlier in his tenure but was an abject di ..read more
