From looking at our property survey, there's an easement off the road of about 10' or so before our property line. Then our fence is slightly set back. There are some large trees in the easement that could use some pruning, or potentially removal. One tree is particularly large and though it's a few feet away from our driveway, one of the roots is lifting the asphalt. A neighbor told us that VDOT "owns" the easement. Looking to go camping next month, new to the state. We are trying to find a campground near a waterfall, preferably secluded, or a good hike away from the crowd. A lot of the places I am pulling up say that you are not allowed in the water. Realizing this is probably my fault for not knowing the rules of Virginia’s DMV but I am not a VA native. I moved out of the state last summer and the natural thought in my head was - I’ll just keep the VA plates until they expire and then register the car in my new state. Come to find out that when I switched my insurance to the new state, Virginia had suspended my license for insurance monitoring.
