Our Associate Creative Director Adam Rosenlund is pretty awesome. He came to DaviesMoore with some pretty cool experience, including stints with Dreamworks and Marvel Comics. I had a few queries about design, so I took the opportunity to pepper Adam with questions and record his answers. Our conversation ranged fairly widely, and I didn’t want to cut anything, so you get the whole enchilada. Enjoy!   Danielle: Is there a difference between taking on another designer’s style and taking on a new client’s style? Adam: Not necessarily. In a lot of ways, you design within a sandbox. You’re not cre ..read more

Eddie’s Homemade Pie Crust

Ahhh…pie crust. One of those things that your mom or grandma either made look easy or just didn’t go near. I have to admit there was a period of time when my kids were little that a good ole frozen Marie Callender crust from the grocery store was the play of the day. But really, a good homemade pie crust is super satisfying, not only to eat but to watch others enjoy! The basics: Good pie crust is the right combination of sugar, salt and fat—and how they interplay with flour. Notice the absence of one usually-important ingredient in bread making: water. It turns out that water, while necessary ..read more

THE BLACK FRIDAY BEAST: How to Deal
Davies Moore | Boise Marketing and Advertising Blog

For businesses in consumer products and retail, Black Friday isn’t a singular event anymore. What used to be a one-day affair now spans anywhere from one holiday weekend to the entire month of November. Black Friday may have semi-humble roots, but the beast has grown too large to fit in the confines of just one day. First, the boom in online shopping brought us Cyber Monday. Then, fierce competition on Black Friday pushed sales to start sooner and sooner, until it finally encroached on Thanksgiving Day. Now, many businesses have opted to offer “Black Friday all month long” sales. What began a ..read more

Building & Maintaining Client Relations

DaviesMoore began right around the same time as Mac desktops and desktop design software. As this was occurring, a new client of our CEO Edward Moore said, “Dang, you must feel like a buggy whip maker when the Model T came out.” Obviously, this client was implying he thought our services would become obsolete in the near future. Eddie, though at the time thought this yahoo might have a point, is not worried about it now. Why? Because Eddie believes that no kind of software, Artificial Intelligence (AI) or otherwise, can compare to human innovation. I also share Eddie’s lack of fear in this re ..read more

Ahhhh….social media: everybody’s favorite thing to hate.  For personal use, it’s usually just a fun distraction. (Unless you’re an influencer and get paid to use it, that is. Then it’s, like, your job.) For businesses, however, social media is a powerful tool. Not only can it help you learn more about your customers or clients, it can provide some information about your business and aid in some decisions. The trick, however, is to learn how to use this tool in the right way and with the right perspective. I chatted with our smart af Integrated Media Director, Sean Winnett about what social me ..read more

Pup Crew’s Final Pupdate!
Davies Moore | Boise Marketing and Advertising Blog

This summer our goal for Pup Crew was to raise $1,000 for the Idaho Humane Society. (For some more information on the history of Pup Crew, head to the blog I wrote earlier this summer.) To reach our goal, we found healthy recipes for dog treats, made them, and sold them for a suggested donation of $10 per bag. Flavors included gluten-free peanut butter and pumpkin, and grain-free sweet potato and bacon. Being an agency, we had to have cute, pup-themed images, inspired packaging and cookie-cutter-shaped treats, of course. We set out on weekends throughout the summer, and would pup up at locati ..read more

A Love Letter to the Agency

If you follow us on social media (@DaviesMoore on all mediums), you’ve likely watched my dog, Henry, grow up. He’s the handsome gray pup that’s been coming in since he was eight weeks old and looked like a fluffy, baby penguin. Everyone at the agency met him the second day I had him. In fact, Henry’s first day at the office was also Nick’s first day. Henry pooped on the conference room floor while we were doing Nick’s orientation. Nick, though slightly taken aback, was very chill about it, and I think they have a special bond because of that very poo. Just prior to (hashtag) National Dog Day ..read more
