Passengers will soon be able to fly directly from Manchester to Reggio Calabria in southwest Italy – making Manchester the first UK airport with a direct link to the city.
Flights will run on Wednesdays and Sundays with Ryanair, starting on Sunday 28th April, from as little as £14.99 per person one-way.
The city provides visitors with an ideal base to explore the wider Calabria region – often referred to as the country’s ‘best kept secret’ by travel writers.

This June, Manchester will become the only city in the UK outside London to have direct flight to the West Coast of the US as Virgin Atlantic’s new service from Manchester Airport to Las Vegas gets underway.

Manchester Airport has broken passenger records for the sixth consecutive month.
It served 2.1m passengers in March – up 12% on March 2023 and above the 2019 pre-pandemic level of 2m passengers.
Driven by a busy early Easter, that made it the busiest March the airport has ever seen. At the same time – for the second consecutive month – every single passenger waited for less then 15 minutes to get to security.

Manchester Airport is urging passengers travelling during the school holidays to make sure they know hand luggage rules, after scissors, blow torches and two packs of darts were among almost 400 items confiscated in just one morning.
The most-confiscated item by far was the cigarette lighter. Passengers are permitted to carry one lighter with them, so long as it fits into a clear resealable plastic bag and contains under 100ml of liquid – but bringing through multiple lighters is not allowed, which leads to many passengers having to turn them in. 284 lighters were handed in over the course of ..read more

Passengers are expected to jet off in their thousands from Manchester Airport to cheer on England at the UEFA European Championships this summer.
More than 100,000 people are expected to fly from the Northern hub during the tournament to the eight German cities it serves directly – more than any other English airport outside London. The launch of a new route from Manchester to Shanghai with Juneyao Air has been backed to deliver a major economic and cultural boost by business and community leaders across the North.
The service is the first ever from the North to Shanghai and will launch on 1 July, running three times per week on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays. The flights will operate on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft with business and economy classes.
Juneyao has chosen Manchester as its first UK destination, building on its status as the only English airport outside London with a direct service to China’s mainland.

Manchester Airport hosted its annual ‘Meet the Buyers’ event yesterday, with more than 300 attendees from over 200 local businesses taking the opportunity to connect directly with key prospective clients in the Greater Manchester area.

The programme to transform Manchester Airport has reached two important milestones – work to redesign the airfield and the installation of steelwork for a new pier.
The changes to the airfield will capacity and allow the world’s biggest passenger planes to pass side by side as they taxi to and from Terminal 2.
The extra pier will almost double the number of aircraft that can operate from the brand-new super-terminal while offering passengers more space while they wait.
