I've been learning to bass fish but haven't had much luck, only caught one so far. Anyone know any good spots? I don't care about size at all, I just want to get experience catching. I read in some old thread that the ponds in womble and veteran park have numbers, but i don't know if thats still the case. The same thread mentioned that bass lake was good too, but a friend of mine told me the opposite. I live in fuquay so i'd like to find a spot pretty close, but i'm willing to drive as far... City of Raleigh lakes are being drained for storm water studies. Who is the stupid fool that would consider doing this project during the spawn cycle ?? I have sent letters to city of Raleigh and only response was pointing me to website with information. I asked if they planned to restock these lakes however have not received any responses. Hoping they use this time to remove a lot of the sediment in the shallow ends that are destroying these fishing spots However that seems out of scope... Fished there last week. Had two days of nice weather and then the cold front hit and water temp dropped 8 degrees. Morning air temps were 34-36 degrees. It was a fun trip. I did manage to catch nice bass each day. Caught an 8.2lb bass on a jerkbait, and a 36lb catfish on a lipless! All in all, it was a good week. It was my first time fishing there and really enjoyed it...except for the crazy amount of pressure on Saturday! On saturday, there wasn't one cove without 2-3 boats in it...
