It seems that a growing number of people have become disillusioned with the stresses of modern living and want to embrace a more alternative lifestyle that is sustainable and more rewarding. With the help of a few must-have accessories such as a solar kit, you could be living off-grid and enjoying a lifestyle that doesn’t have the same pressures as trying to keep up with the financial and social pressures of urban life in a modern age. Sustainability is the Name of the Game The bottom line is that living off-grid turns the tables and you end up producing more than you consume, rather than the ..read more

Ah bed. I’d happily stay there all day if I could. I’m one of those gals who jumps into my PJ’s the second I’m through the front door and not going back out again. I like to be comfy! I was grateful to be sent these gorgeous silky button up pyjamas recently, not only do they look amazing, they are the softest, silkiest thing I have ever worn. For someone who is very particular on textures of fabric, and what I can sleep in, these are honestly hands down a winner. They are cosy without being too warm, perfect for cooler nights and warmer evenings alike. I love the paisley design on these. They ..read more

Almost a month has passed since I really came on here to write. In giving myself space for healing, I’ve just not had the capacity to write anything. I’ve let go of what isn’t essential right now. Mum duties always take precedence, and it leaves little for ‘Polly’. Focusing on setting boundaries, doing what’s best for me, and reducing stress factors in my life. Grateful for the friends who’ve been checking in on me, who are there in the background supporting me and cheering me on. There are no shortcuts on a healing journey, it all takes time, but I feel like I’m on the right track this time ..read more

8 Steps to Spring Clean and Declutter Your Home

Now the days are lengthening and spring is in the air, I’ve been making a start on my spring cleaning. It feels so good to open the windows and ensure everywhere is clean and tidy after the long winter months when the house is shut up. I’ve always loved spring cleaning, as to me, it’s a sign that better weather is ahead – long days in the garden, curtains billowing in the wind, the house smelling of warm earth and cut grass. Washing the throws we’ve used all winter, tidying away all the clutter, cleaning off surfaces and making sure everything is organised. Starting a new season with a clean ..read more

I woke up to sunshine streaming through my curtains this morning {and a cat meowing to be let out}. Blue skies always make me smile, especially when it’s the start of the day. Isn’t it amazing what a difference some sun makes to how we feel?! There’s a lot going on behind the scenes here, lots of inner work, I just started with a new counsellor and am trying to implement some changes to try and get a handle on what’s going on. Slowing down and being more intentional with my time, remembering to look for the good that is always there, and choosing carefully the energy I surround myself with. H ..read more

In the hustle and bustle of life, it’s easy to get lost in the chaos. Amidst the noise, don’t forget to nurture your inner peace. Here are a few simple ways to reduce stress and invite tranquility into your day: Breathe deeply: Take a moment to close your eyes and focus on your breath. Inhale deeply through your nose, allowing the air to fill your lungs, then exhale slowly through your mouth, releasing any tension. Disconnect to reconnect: Unplug from technology for a while. Step away from screens, notifications, and distractions. Instead, immerse yourself in nature, read a book, or engage ..read more

In making space for healing, I’m making space for all the good and happy things in life. Letting go of what isn’t essential, and choosing to focus on what makes me feel good. There are many happy moments throughout the week, and it’s really important that we remember to be grateful for all of them – they exist even in the hardest of times. Here are three good things from this past week; * Mother’s Day – missing my eldest, but the other four spoilt me rotten. Their handmade cards and gifts were the best, and the little treats they bought were the icing on the cake. I even got breakfast and din ..read more

February is almost at a close, and I am so happy to be seeing signs of spring around us. I’ve not been feeling good for a while now, but have been trying to pretend all is OK. Truth be told I am burnt out, having lived through trauma that I’ve not addressed truly, my body is stuck in fight or flight mode and I need to stop. I need to heal and find a way to come out the other side. I’m stepping back from anything non-essential for a while, as I focus on healing and moving forward. Remembering, that however low I may be feeling – there is so much happy in my world too * sunny walks to the park ..read more

5 Fun Family Festivals for 2024

I’ve been taking the kids to festivals since the girls were little. Camp Bestival and Just So were two of our favourites when the girls were little – they have such amazing memories of weekends spent in a field with friends, old and new. There are so many great festivals for families on offer – from larger-scale ones to small gatherings. My kids love the fun and excitement of a festival, the freedom and new experiences. Most festivals now have something for everyone, with fun for the kids and plenty of music to entertain the grown-ups. We mostly tend to do festivals with our group of friends ..read more
