D&D Subclass concepts I want to see

There’s a lot of homebrew content out there for subclasses, a vast majority of which I haven’t seen. I pay attention to a very limited set of content creators who have design philosophies I admire and a prolific body of work. That being said, there’s always other concepts out there for subclass ideas, and in this post, I want to describe a concept for each of the game’s base classes that I would like to see. Disclaimer, I am not doing Artificer, because basically the answer is just to gesture at the Inventor class. Let’s get started Barbarian – Path of the Demon A fiend-themed or fiend-powered ..read more

Pathfinder Iconics – Part 3

Our final (for now) post in the Pathfinder Iconics series, this set will feature the classes that will either be “updated via errata” (though we aren’t sure what that means at this time) or were designed with the Remaster in mind, in the case of the Kineticist, and so no updates are needed for it. Part 1 and Part 2 can be found in the provided links! And now, let’s finish the list! Snickit Boomstick, the Gunslinger Snickit is my goblin gunslinger, whom I’ve written about in this post. Give that a read, and it should give you a pretty good idea of what he’s all about. Bolg, the Inventor Bolg is ..read more

For this month, I took on a challenge to come up with at least one character a week that used a homebrew class option. I also made two characters in Daggerheart, and two new PF2E characters using some class archetypes from Team+. It’s been a fairly busy month in that regard. For this post, I have a new character using each of KibblesTasty’s new classes, so we’re gonna have sort of a showcase of some of his work. Let’s get started Tempest I was born during the worst thunderstorm in my peoples memory, and so my parents named me “Tempest”. When I had grown, I was part of the warband that killed ..read more

Building Bilxim Bogglenoggle

For my 40th birthday last July, a friend was kind enough to run a D&D One shot for myself and a bunch of my friends who do not live close by. For that game, I played a Gnome Warsmith Inventor by the name of Bilxim Bogglenoggle. Bogglenoggle was also the last name of a gnome sorcerer I’d considered playing for our Strixhaven interlude on Plus 5 to Hit, and I expanded and revised his story a fair bit to encompass having a brother and a sibling rivalry to go along with it. Bilxim would be said brother. The one shot was played at level 7, but I’ve built a theoretical version that goes all the ..read more

Small things in FFXIV I would like to see fixed for Dawntrail

I really enjoy FFXIV. I think, on the whole, it is the best MMORPG out there for my particular playstyle and what I enjoy. It is by no means perfect, but they’ve made some incredible strides with the game, especially considering the foundation it’s built on (which is to say, not a great game that they had to overhaul into something workable) For this post, I would like to talk about five changes that I have personally encountered some level of annoyance with and would like to see them changed-slash-fixed. I’m not going to talk about major things that would require a full game overhaul, nor am ..read more

Alternate paths for Thom

I’ve always been a big fan of “What if?” stories, which explore how things in a character’s life might have been different had they made a different choice at a key moment in their story. I have, naturally, done this on a number of times with characters of my own creation, with Thom, having been one of my longest played characters, receiving the lion’s share of this. So for this post, I’d like to talk about some of the possible alternate versions of Thom that might be out there in the multiverse, ones who made different choices and have ended up a very different kind of adventurer as a result ..read more

Continuing on from the last post in this series, this time we’ll talk about the characters representing the 8 classes planned for Player Core 2! Feel free to take a look at that post again if you don’t remember the rules here. Hollowed Deadnettle, the Alchemist Hollowed Deadnettle is a Gnoll, and physically speaking, a below average one. She’s not particularly strong nor particularly fast, and more than once, her ineffectiveness in hunting and ambushing cost her tribe their prey. The Elders of her tribe tried to place her into another role, that of artisan or caretaker, but she was adamant tha ..read more

D&D Character Concepts – February 2024

With the month of February now behind us, it’s time to continue the trend established in this post and take a look at a small sampling of the character concepts I have come up with during that time. Korbin Barret Ain’t it just a sheer coincidence that all the folks who put off death are the ones who’re just the absolute shittiest in life? It’s almost like they know a devil’s gonna get hold of their soul afterwards, Weird. The Baron of the village where Korbin grew up was a tyrant, over taxing those who lived on his land, and taking cruel punishments out on those who couldn’t pay. The residen ..read more

Backstory Blurb – Laridia-2

From the private journal of Agios, high priest of Casandalee Twenty-fours, 29 minutes, and 37 seconds from the time I initiated this entry, Laridia died. She was a diplomatic envoy to our neighbors in Numeria and other nations. She had no priestly or clerical training of any kind, but was blessed by the Iron Goddess with a gift for diplomacy and oratory. We believed she would be perfect in this role. What we did not know was that her experiences in other lands were often…unpleasant. We would later learn that she encountered substantial amounts of anti-synthetic sentiments from organics, freque ..read more

Building Thom – Level 8

Level 8 has come, and something awesome has happened. Remember this post. in which I talked about replacing Thom’s subclass with what was essentially a revised version that more fit the theme and was more consistent with current 5e design standards? I actually got approval to make the switch. Thom is now a That Which is Beyond warlock. I’m quite happy with the change and can’t wait to make use out of all the features. With this rebuild, we have a number of changes as outlined in the above-linked post. We’ve lost the Toll the Dead Cantrip in favor of Mage Hand, we’ve replaced four leveled spell ..read more
