The corona restrictions are finished. The blog has been quiet but the restrictions never ended the worldschooling community here. It was just changed into another form. The homeschoolers were polarised because of the push for the vaccines and the mask mandate where some people endorsed but in mostly they didnt. We are resuming meet ups after the summer break. Here is whats on offer for the next week: Monday - Play date at Metrofarm (near Nadrazi holesovice), for those that dont know this is our "apocalypse garden" - a play ground that we built on an alternative community garden where there are chicken, sheep, goats, other animals, there is a bbq spot, and lots of fun options for the kids. As this year's worldschooling retreat was canceled - 8 of the families from Prague and Brno took the initiative to meet anyway and to arrange an alternative worldschooling week instead. We went to a remote part of Moravia in the Eastern Czech Republic near the Bílé Karpaty mountain range and spent almost a whole week there with them. There has been a few very busy last couple of weeks. We have tried a lot of new activities, met new friends and had said good buy to those that have left. We have some things that we will start and somethings we would like to organise for the worldschoolers: 1) On tuesdays mornings at 1030 we (me and our two year old, possibly the 7 year old) will regularly head to the childrens arts workshop in the National gallery. Welcome to a traditional worldschooling meet up in our favourite park Stromovka this wednesday 24th july at 1 pm. It is quite a big park with a couple of play grounds and ponds. We will meet at Vozovna playground at 1 pm, and let our kids play and then head towards the ponds. It will be a hot day so its a good idea to bring some spare clothes or swimming suits for the kids. This summer, the very first worldschooling retreat in the Czech Republic will be held. It is based on freedom and respect with a focus on self-directed learning and is organized by the Czech unschooling organization 'Svoboda Učení' which translates to English as 'freedom to learn'. Their manifesto tells us that their unschooling philosophy is based on the non-aggression principle and respect for the child by counteracting adultism.   We offer a couple of planned events bringing together the worldschoolers this April: Worldschooling picnic in Stromovka This is a "typical" worldschooling event here in Prague. This park is so good not much planning is needed. We have to go with the flow. If the weather is wamr, bring your water guns and some extra clothes! To my knowledge the rope boat hasnt been put out yet but lets hope it will be there, otherwie there are plenty of activities.
