I have a family account with five of us using Dropbox. I push hard for my adult kids to back stuff up and also we live far from each other and pass documents and pictures etc using shared folders, and we are stating to get good at it and now we hit the limit and they want our family to move to a business account which is so expensive - for a family. Has anyone solved this, is there any way to add storage to a family account? submitted by /u/dj_samosa [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Dropbox cold storage sync question

I am using macOS. I have a 3 TB Dropbox account. I want to upload around 2 TB of my music from an external hard drive onto my Dropbox. This means it should not be available in my normal desktop sync, but rather a "cold storage". As I understand it, selective sync wouldn't suit my case since it's an external HDD that is not always connected. I had a look at the "Backup" function of Dropbox, but as I understand it that does not allow me to browse my files (or listen to the uploaded music), it's just a locked up backup file. How would I best go about doing this? Is the only way by dragging the e ..read more

Title says it all. I can see these folders on Mac and Desktop computers. I can see the name of the Team Folder if I search inside of the DropBox app for iPhone but I get an error when I try and open it. I cannot see these folders in my Files inside of the app. Anyone have a fix? submitted by /u/letsgotgoing [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

How to get Dropbox online only files to show up in MacOS Finder?

I just did a fresh install of MacOS Sonoma. I linked up my Dropbox account, but because I have less space on my drive than I do in the Dropbox cloud, I had to select which folders I wanted to keep synced. There is a folder with a lot of video files that I don’t want downloaded, but I want to be able to see what is in there in the finder. Before I reinstalled I was able to do this. I could even add to the folder, then choose to make files online-only after I moved them in there. I need help figuring out how to do this again. Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/theJobuTupaki [visit reddit] [com ..read more

Prevent access by link for unauthorized users at account level

Hi, My small nonprofit is considering adopting Dropbox at a paid but relatively inexpensive tier TBD. One use is file sharing with external users. Under no circumstances do we ever want anyone to access who is not an authorized user but we do want to sent links to make it easier for authorized users find the right doc. I see how to restrict unauthorized users on a link level but not on an account level. So someone could forget and accidentally create an insecure link. Can I disable access by unauthorized users via link for the entire account? What plan would we need? RIght now we have a free ..read more

Dropbox auto upload

Hello, Dropbox used to automatically upload files/folders. So if I created a file on my desktop, it would automatically be uploaded to my Dropbox folder. The files/folders would also get a small check on them. This has now stopped happening for some reason. Does anyone know how to return it to how it was before? Hello. I was just given an account by a company for which I'm consulting. However, the only folders I see, both on Windows and via File Explorer, are empty folders for my files and my videos. In order to gain access to the company's files that are already on Dropbox, do they need to somehow invite me or grant access? Or am I doing something wrong? I'm sorry that this is such a newbie question but that's what I am to this particular application. submitted by /u/Artistic_Society4969 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
