The New York Mets (18-18) entered Wednesday with a chance to sweep the St. Louis Cardinals, but some bad weather in the Midwest caused the game to be postponed to a later date. An additional day of rest means the team has not played since Tuesday night. To the surprise of many, the Atlanta Braves (22-12) are not at the top of the National League East, sitting two games back of the Philadelphia Phillies. The Mets took two of three when these two teams met in Atlanta during the second week of April. Carlos Mendoza will hope his team can repeat that feat, this time at home. What Terry Collins lacked in size on the baseball field, he made up for with a fiery intensity and desire to compete. Regularly the smallest player on every organized team he played on, Collins realized that he could stand out by routinely playing harder than the rest. Collins, 74, has spent over five decades in professional baseball. Drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 19th round of the 1971 Major League Baseball Draft, he never appeared in the big leagues as a player. Collins soon understood that if he wanted to taste the life of a major leaguer, he would need to do so in a different wa ..read more

The New York Mets are enjoying an off day having taken the series against the Cardinals. Although the final game was rained out, the Mets took the opening two contests to move back to .500 with an 18-18 record. It was the team’s first series win since April 19-21. Granted, the Cardinals aren’t exactly a great baseball team right now (15-21), but you can only beat what is put in-front of you, after all. Either way, there were plenty of positives to take in after what was a tough stretch. And, with that, let’s dive right into another edition of 3 Up, 3 Down… 3 UP Photo by Jeff Curry-USA TODAY S ..read more

One of Topps’ most anticipated releases of the year, 2024 Topps Heritage, is in stores now. This year’s release takes collectors back to a classic set and the most imaginative design from a decade of simple designs that ranged from iconic to downright boring. The first half of the decade featured iconic single-color designs in 1970 (gray), 1971 (black), and 1973 (white), as well as the 1972 picture frame design. The second half of the decade led to Topps using mostly white designs with splashes of other colors for mostly forgettable products. However, 1975 gave collectors a product wit ..read more
