The Cubs go for the series win.
Today's roster move: Here
Sunday notes...
THE CUBS AND DRAMATIC WINS: The Cubs have won only four of their last 15 games, as their record went from 25-19 to 29-30. In each of their wins, they scored the deciding runs in their final inning at bat: May 18: 1-0 walk-off in ninth vs. Pirates. May 21: 4-3 walk-off in 10th vs. Braves. May 28: 6-3 win with five runs in 10th at Milwaukee. June 1: 7-5 win with two runs in eighth vs. Reds. The Cubs’ last win without a dramatic final at bat was on May 15, when they won at Atlanta, 7-1. David Bote after his ultimate grand slam in 2018 | Photo by Jon Durr/Getty Images
He's back, almost two years after his last MLB game.
I've been advocating for David Bote to replace Nick Madrigal on the Cubs 26-man active roster, and today it happened:
Cubs updates:
-David Bote selected from Iowa, Nick Madrigal optioned to Iowa, Adbert Alzolay moved to 60-day IL to make room for Bote on 40-man roster.
-Jordan Wicks starting with Iowa, Keegan Thompson and Daniel Palencia throwing with Iowa today too.

It was a long, wet journey into night, but the Cubs came out on top.
It rained in Chicago Saturday. A lot. And the game between the Cubs and Reds was delayed. A lot. Three hours and 20 minutes, to be exact.
In the end, the wait was worth it, as a two-run homer by Dansby Swanson in the eighth inning broke a 5-5 tie and gave the Cubs a 7-5 win over the Reds as the clock pushed past midnight.
So... (checks watch)... that meant the scheduled 6:15 p.m. festivities at Wrigley Field began at 9:35 p.m. And it was still raining, lightly, when play began. This made it ..read more

Iowa Cubs
The Iowa Cubs clipped the wings of the Louisville Bats (Reds), 3-2.
Thomas Pannone pitched the first five innings and allowed two runs on five hits. One of the hits was a solo home run by former Cub P.J. Higgins. Pannone walked two and struck out three.
The win went to Sam McWilliams with two innings of scoreless relief. McWilliams struck out three and walked one.
